The club has grown and won the league since leaving FS, maybe the ruins are like a native Indian burial site , sacred lands , and as such shouldn’t be touched by man so as not to upset the spirits of old !!!

Leave is as it is and let the universe and time lead it on its natural course

why do we always feel the need to interfere with nature and urban habitat

leave the place alone , one mans eyesore is another’s Wild urban meadow

and people comparing FS to highbuy ??? are you mental , FS was an eyesore and had no architectural beauty , memories and happy moments for many of us but it was bloody ugly , Highbury /Highbury square was an Art Deco Leitch masterpiece , a stunning piece of architecture which even now takes my breath away to think that a football club paid for and built such a master piece 80 years ago !

The car park is still there. I think the overgrown bit is what used to be the pitch.

They opened it all up as a carpark a few years ago, then shut it. The yellow entrance bit is still there.

Don’t think you get many supermarket trolleys old tyres and old setees on Indian burial grounds.

I've seen it looking worse when we played on it occasionally.

One of the good thing about going to the Emirates is you will see Arsenal's history plastered all over the ground, pictures and statues. Shame our hierarchy have very little appreciation for anything pre-2010.

Agree - and add to that Herbert Chapman's legendary Highbury clock.

We should have at the very least incorporated a small lump of asbestos from the East Stand.

They are the tools of the modern world no different from a Teepee , wagon wheel and pony trap ?

something quite existential about the state of our urban habitats in that site

me personally it should be left as it is and see how time and nature weaves it’s pattern into the area

Highbury looks fantastic.

Not expecting that with Filbert Street but ****ing hell, sort it out. It's not up to the owners to sort it and it doesn't matter where it is in the city, that area is a disgrace.

Agree that it would make a fantastic place for a couple of pop up bars before a game.

They should have saved this

I always think this. I like going to Middlesbrough away because they move the gates across from Ayresome and now they sit in front of the Riverside.

The overgrown bit was a private-run car park. I lived in the student accommodation block there (called Filbert Village), used the car park as the flats only had about 10 spaces. Was pretty good value considering it was in the city. It closed because the local residents complained about traffic etc and the council revoked the licence, I assumed they left it as it is now as a **** you to the council, until they can sell it for building land or something. There is a plaque and some other stuff from Filbert Street in the reception of the student block (at least there was when I lived there a few years ago).

There was planning approval to build more student flats but the financial collapse stopped it, I think it may have expired now.

I think I read somewhere that they didn't have approval to run it as a car park.

Ah yeah might be that way round. Remember when I used it a lot of people complained either way. Someone once let my tyres down.

Still a valuable piece of land and probably destined for flats or student housing (how many students are there FFS)

I think we should just move on it was pretty grotty but we all have good memories.

Onwards and upwards/Plenty of history inside KP in terms of pics and shirts etc.the future is bright.?

Needs to be bought by the club.

Why? Why do they need to do anything?

why don’t we buy it as fans get a joint mortgage type thing and build our own Iain Hume museum?

I would love the club to take over this land and build a small museum, restaurant and bar that can be used by fans before match days and also throughout the week by anyone who wants to look through our history.

With all the millions spent, this surely would be a great thing to do?

Isn't it? If I was them i'd be buying up that land and building a city museum, bar/restaurant that would make money in a prime location and be a great place for fans pre and post match
