It makes me laugh that we're branded as arrogant for mentioning that we have a good chance of winning but when the Swedes do it (Below) it's praised as confidence. I'm bored of them banging on about their amazing defence, to a point where I hope they concede 3 or 4 just so they look stupid! 

In other words, they're really bloody getting to me

Funny, I heard Sven on the radio this morning and despite the fact he was terrible as manager of both football teams I love (especially leicester, leaving us with a crippling wage bill). and despite the fact he shagged anything with a pulse in the lead up to a world cup. I still really like the guy, weird.

Totally agree here, we aren’t allowed to be confident in this country at all...

I hope the players see them comments in the Swedish press, bit of extra motivation, not that you should need it in a world cup quarter final.

 

Its funny because people say we have the easiest run ever to a final and then at the same time say we shouldn't be so confident because Sweden are a good team. No point following football if you can't be confident, or arrogant at times, yes it will probably bite us in the arse but that's football.

It's mainly Scots and Welsh that do it though isn't it? I dare say there'll be denials to this statement but they're absolutely obsessed with the England team. Go onto bbc have your say and every 2nd comment on England threads is a Scot saying how lucky we've been, how arrogant we are and how Sweden will beat us. One of the clowns even stated it was karma for our evil empire, ignoring the fact that the Scots were just as much involved in the British empire. Why let facts get in the way of a rant though eh?

Miserable, middle aged men, dissatisfied with life, moaning. It's sad and hilarious in equal measure.

Exactly  they have said every team will beat us so far...

 

Tunisia will beat us, we beat them and their response is well they are rubbish...

 

Panama will beat us, we beat them and their response is well they are rubbish,

 

Belgium doesn’t count with both being reserves but it counts to the Scots and welsh  made an easier path for us though losing  

 

Colombia is guaranteed to send us home, we beat them and then they become rubbish. 

 

They cant accept we have done pretty well, we for a young team have gone beyond what I expected.

Think Sven is slating England's achievements in this World cup seeing as he should have got to at least 1 semi final with the players at his disposal in 2002 and 2006. Looks bad on him that an unfancied squad have matched him.

Yeah, sad individually and collectively. 'Twas ever thus though.

Every passing year they don't qualify highly amuses me, which probably makes me as sad as them if I'm honest but they drive you to that.

They also forget, when accusing us of arrogance, they were the first ever team to have a winners parade before they even left to attend a World cup in 1978 only to be home before their postcards. They were trailblazers in arrogance, they just choose to ignore that fact. Every nation has them but I find the Welsh take on it much more like banter than the nastiness I've encountered with Scots. That's just my individual take on it though.

He sounds bitter to me, let’s face it we should have beaten Portugal in 2006, no harm in losing to Brazil but Portugal was a very poor result back then.

Exactly people are getting confidence with us mixed up with arrogance... We do have a good chance of the final because every team we will potentially play from now on we are close to or on par with... no reason we can’t win those games.

Some people seem to assume I get upset when England win, unless you're beating Wales (and even then, I'm philosophical about it in football because you've got a hell of a lot more resources than we do) I couldn't give a toss. 

 

But I'll have a laugh when you lose. 

 

You have a laugh when Forest lose, I assume, that doesn't mean you sulk every time they win. It's much the same. 

 

It's just a rivalry, we don't really care if it's very one sided, we're a bit like Peterborough fans thinking Leicester care about us. That's fine. 

 

Given that half the planet dislikes the English and delights in you losing, I don't really understand why you still all get so salty about it and haven't just started embracing it. 

 

You're the Leeds / Millwall of international sport - you may as well just accept and embrace it.

Tbh, I'm not that confident. Haven't been for any game. That's an historical issue for me though, seen them fail so many times. I thought we might draw with Tunisia, maybe beat panama 2-1, lose to Belgium and lose to Colombia. I've been wrong and surprised for the most part. I think tomorrow is a real 50/50 but there's no doubt we're allowed to get excited, wtf is the point of entering if you don't?

I understand, it is the ones supporting the opposition constantly and when we do well, they refuse to accept it. For me we have gone beyond my expectations just as Wales did... this is a successful World Cup for our very inexperienced team and for once I’m proud of what we achieved. If Forest got to the PL I would admit that is a good achievement

I think I'm capable of being both pretty impartial an honest about England and also going blatantly on the wind up, haha. 

 

It's just sport and whilst I love and get very emotional about the game, it isn't life or death and its healthy to have a laugh about it.

Hahaha, yeah, you're right I suppose, both sides do it. Being older, I remember a time when most English fans would support the other home nations when England weren't there. I suppose access to the 'real' views of other home nations fans via social media has pretty much ended that 

 

That's a fair comment. Though I can't ever see the Scots as winning at anything (see, I can't help myself either).

He was a wildly over rated manger and only able to understand anything properly when it was a pair of legs and a skirt in front of him.
