Congratulations to France for that second World Cup title in 20 years!

When you score more goals than your opposition, you deserve the title.

 

But you've got to praise the effort by every single Croatian on the pitch, went the whole hundred yards, never gave up.

 

Personally, I'm glad this World Cup is over. Back to league football it is now!

Didn’t Shearer watch the 2nd half or is he just saying what the producers are telling him?

 

France has 2 break aways and scored. They barely got the ball other than that. 

 

They had the luxury of sitting back and putting men behind the ball because they had an unjust lead.

 

Some great individual talents but awful as a team throughout the tournament. They basically strangled the life out of every game.

France are becoming the implacable tournament enemy for Croatia.

 

Just like Germany and Portugal became for England.

How would they have possibly won that game without the intervention of the referee?

 

They got battered. They can only play on the break and referee gave them the opportunity to do so.

Pains me to say but this French team are pretty much your typical blueprint for winning a tournament:

 

Solid defence

Great midfield

Speedy attackers

Clinical finishers

Very very solid system

Element of luck

Favourable refereeing decisions

Soak up the opponents decent spells

Exploit opponents weak spells

They are a highlights team. Dire to watch for the most part, but with amazing individual brilliance when needed. Ref was utterly appalling today and cost Croatia the game.
