Hi everyone going London next weekend anyone got any good recommendations for restaurants and bars centrally? Went to the hawksmoor last time which was legit but wanna try somewhere else. It’s such a big place with so much variety I thought it could have its own thread.

Kind of fancy Mexican or Indian but not dishoom or wahaca cos have been before.

For Mexican, Corazon in Soho is really good. Plus, there's a BrewDog a couple of doors down.

That looks good thanks mate might go there

Tbh London isn't great for acrual Mexican. However, just throwing it out there if anyone fancies, Paladar(more a mix of Latin America) is absolutely frigging superb. Went the other week because it gets tons of great reviews. It's down by E&C and quite expensive but fantastic.

Gem Bar in Soho is decent.

And not too far from there is a place called Chipotle Mexican Grill - never been myself but had good recommendations from friends.

and although not Mexican or Indian, Bodeans always reliable. Plenty of them dotted around London I believe.

One of my favourites, albeit not Central London, is Katzenjammers near London Bridge. Never had a bad time there.

When I was back recently I went to:

- Fishworks, good lunch special (Swallow st, Piccadilly)

- Le Gavroche, nothing to say really, it's amazing

- Bone Daddies, seems to be a bit of a chain I went to the one at St Christopher's place, but was good ramen not that I am an expert

Pubs I drank in:

- Chequers Tavern, Duke Street

- Shepherds Tavern, Hertford Street

I wasn't too impressed with the pubs to be honest, I just needed a good drink, so they served their purpose. However, the three restaurants were spot on. Sorry they are not Mexican or India.

Apologies for knowing a bit about London.

For the ultimate dining experience, try Sketch. It’s unreal, from the moment you walk through the door, to the moment you leave.

But if it’s purely about taste, Ormer at Flemings hotel is the best food I have ever had. It’s amazing, and although the chef only came to a London about 2 years ago, I think it’s in the top 40 on tripadvisor.

i fancy trying Baboo. Supposed to be great Italian, but I am yet to go.

Borough market is still fantastic for a nighttime session, such a relaxing vibe.

Dinearama in Shoreditch is brilliant, a collection of street food stalls all in like an old garage. Free entry before 7pm on Fridays and the weekend. Lots of great places to eat in there at a good price.

They have a menu for £38 pp including a cocktail which seems ok

Yeah - I went for a meal that was £125 a head - sort of a tasting menu.

Agree with Borough Market in the evening. Market Porter has some good ales on next door. +1 also for the Harp. Love the place, best pub in the centre (which isn't saying a great deal). I spent much of my Maguire first goalscorer winnings down there on Saturday.
