Not concerned about relegation, but we lack ambition, I hate feeling this season is going to be another managerial sacking and rebuilding shit again

It does seem like that’s what we’re bracing for. God, what I wouldn’t give to just have a solid year and for Puel to be successful. No quick hanging and for the Puel Out crowd to be silenced.

I’m concerned that pre season seems so far to have been about largely giving players minutes who either won’t be here or won’t get near the first team. Not the clubs fault, given the World Cup and everything.

But it makes you wonder how we and other teams will do if key players have only had 2-3 weeks off and no time to integrate with new players etc. That said we did get our business done early.

We have the potential to get a Europa spot (like last season before it all unravelled), but in reality I’d probably take 12th if offered it now. Any lower than that would be regarded as poor I think.

We are definitely weaker than last season and you don't cannot underestimate the contribution a player like Mahrez makes.

When he plays he is generally the difference between 0 points and 3 points either through a goal, an assist or just some great play even if it's just a few seconds in a match he does something no one else in a Leicester shirt can.

Losing dragovic is also massive when he played he made our defense stronger and conceded less and won more games.

So we are weaker in attack and defence.

Surely Mahrez is enough to make the squad worse? We've also lost Dragovic who is arguably better than Evans.  But forgetting that, some of the better players in the squad are all older (Vardy, Fuchs, Simpson, Morgan, Iborra, Ulloa, Slimani) You can argue they would all be worse than last season whilst the first team youngsters who you'd think would improve are only (n'didi, Gray, Chillwell, Iheanacho)

Just my opinion but the overhaul the squad needed simply hasnt happened.

Different approach: You can't lose a player on loan, you can only gain his services on a permanent. This is where we've failed. Whether he is/was better suited to the Premier League than Evans remains to be seen, I'd also want to wait for the first few games to have gone by before I comment on Evans.

I wouldn't call Simpson one of our "better" players, certainly is one of the most experienced and reliable ones (in a defensive sense), Fuchs is on the decline and likely off soon, same with Morgan who to a large extent remains captain out of sentimental reasons only, Ulloa has been crucial in certain games, but is also no longer the youngest and should be sold asap.

We've already seen a certain overhaul with bringing in Ricardo Pereira, Maddison this summer and Diabaté last season. Plus using Chilwell as our starting left-back. We need one or two more young-ish wingers (23 to 26 max) that will give us a much-needed boost on either flank for at least the next two to four years.

My 100% truthful answer is I really don't know. I loved him when he first got here & we were playing some quality football, then I hated him when

our game turned around & we looked shit. I'm hoping that given a pre-season & a transfer window he will excel. I'm prepared to give him 10 to 12 games to prove himself & hope with all my heart that he does but I know our owners will not accept relegation as an alternative and he will be gone if we are floating around the "R"zone.

The problem is always the same in that very few top quality managers are available once the season is underway so I'm truly hoping that he is very successful

I hope you are right... I just cannot see us getting anything in our first 2 games which set's him up for immediate pressure. Don't see him turning it around if that happens.

With all the noises Mourinho is making, this is, on paper, a good time to be playing United.  I wonder how people's opinions / optimism will change if (when) we beat them?  Just a thought.

Don't let that get in the way of some more doom and gloom.

Hahaha, it’s called perspective.

First game of the season. I’m leaving my house at 5.45am to catch a 6.20am train up to Manchester. I will work out of my companies Manchester office until 4 and then check in a hotel I’ve booked three weeks ago. Don’t tell me it’s a shit attitude.

Get concerned about things you can impact, not what you can’t. If you know the source of where I learnt this from, I doubt you’d call it a shit attitude then

Good advice but he probably "Sweats the small stuff" as well.

Interesting that although we've bought players, our net spend this window is like -£2m.

That of course could change, but if it doesn't...what does it say about the owners and Puel?

Yes he's had a chance to bring in 'his own players' but from a financial perspective it won't look like they are backing him.

Perhaps but we’ve heard the wage bill could be the barrier not transfer fees.

For signing new players?

Yeah - the club will set a sustainable wage structure and there is some talk that there is currently no flexibility until we offload a few.
