AjcW Posted 22 August 2018 Posted 22 August 2018 You're probably best going along to the canteen UK pop ups 'canteenuk' on instagram used to be at LCB depot but they've just announced they're looking for a new venue. Given how often you're likely to eat a burger might as well try a different one every time from some street food guys rather than a sit down restaurant. As said above though Crafty will do for now! Think the issue is the gourmet burger craze has died a death a bit with so many places opening three or four years ago now all shut down. Think most of that is down to the fact you can make yourself a pretty amazing burger, or as i've mentioned you can try out loads of weird and wacky stuff that only street food places are brave enough to try. If you ever venture to Nottingham Homeboys at Notts Street Food club is the place to go, their burger options vary but they're all amazing 'homeboysuk' on instagram In other coincidental news... It's national burger day!!
Stadt Posted 22 August 2018 Posted 22 August 2018 Five guys is decent, ridiculously expensive for a chain though.

Five Guys is the worst burger in the city that isn't from a kebab shop tbh. Even Mcdonalds do better burgers these days with their signature range or whatever they call it, their gourmet attempt is legitimately better than five guys. Five Guys is just greasey salty crap that should be at kebab shop prices that for somw reason they want restaurant prices for.
Fosse93 Posted 22 August 2018 Posted 22 August 2018 If you're willing to venture out a little, Annie's Burger Shack in Nottingham is top notch.

AjcW Posted 22 August 2018 Posted 22 August 2018 Basically.... all us Nottingham residents do pretty well when it comes to a choice of a good burger

simFox Posted 22 August 2018 Posted 22 August 2018 Must admit, blue cheese burger is the shiz, best one I had was in Leeds.
ScouseFox Posted 22 August 2018 Posted 22 August 2018 insane amount of boss burger gaffs in the leeds. and in liverpool. leicester does really lack some fundemantal parts of being a cool city (but it’s still tidy enough).
Ric Flair Posted 23 August 2018 Posted 23 August 2018 National burger day today aaaah Keds. https://www.coolasleicester.co.uk/the-best-burgers-in-leicester-beyond/

Burger Freshly minced chuck steak from the butchers. Plaster in salt and pepper and nothing else. Get the hob on full whack or the BBQ. Cook for 3 mins each side. Stick some cheese on (I tend to use them horrid plastic cheese slices which are as close to American cheese as you'll get here) Rest. Stick a couple of rashers of bacon on the BBQ too and some thick sliced onions that will soften in no time. Accompaniments Parboil a peeled potato (jacket spud size) for 5-10 mins. Then once cooled grate it in to a bowl with some cheddar and parmesan if you have any, salt and pepper, garlic, an egg and some shredded sauted cabbage. Make it to a patty or two and whack in the oven for 15 mins. Cob Most supermarkets now do brioche cobs, Aldi do some sensational sesame seeded ones. But as long as it's a soft cob then whatever. Crusty cobs have no place in the burger game, get fcuked. Sauces The sauce that takes up the majority of this is a bit like a Big Mac sauce but is based mostly on the dead hippie sauce from Meat Liquor. Finely chop a large gherkin, Worcester sauce, ketchup, American mustard, mayo, salt and pepper. Mix the beauty up and then leather all over the cob. I also have a quick splash of ketchup on the top of the bun too. Slap it all together (bubble and squeak rosti on top of the burger), Get I Am The Resurrection blaring on the Sonos and wash down with some ice cold piss. WE GO AGAIN
Manini Posted 23 August 2018 Posted 23 August 2018 There’s a place called MeatLiqour in Leeds and it blows any other burger I’ve ever had out of the water to be honest. Haven’t eaten in Leicester for ages but I’m back in a couple of weeks so I’m looking forward to trying this Crafty. It’s in a nice little spot as well by the looks of it.
Finnegan Posted 23 August 2018 Posted 23 August 2018 St Martin's Square is really nice, it's got a reasonable ambience, some nice shops and eateries etc. The gelato place on the corner is sensational. But Crafty probably wouldn't blow you away compared to what you might have had in other cities. Edit: little note on crafty, during the day it sells sandwiches and loads of different blends of tea and coffee. I actually think it's a bit better then tbf, I haven't been in for about a year but some of their hot sandwiches were sensational.
