siraaj_lcfc Posted 3 December 2018 Posted 3 December 2018 A lot of pundits are saying that Jamie Vardy is starting to get back to his title winning form. Despite seemingly struggling with a groin injury, Vardy's form is recovering and we've been seeing the high pressure that we're used to from him. Yeah, he's only scoring from the spot, but if Puel reverts his tactics to counter attack like against Watford, Vardz may be back to his best. Just wanted your opinions on this and those crappy cheer sticks.
themightyfin Posted 3 December 2018 Posted 3 December 2018 I think it's a case if he plays well one match and everyone says he's back in form or he plays not so well one game and people say he's past it. Nothing more than idiots who can't see past 90 minutes of football.
Jimmy Posted 3 December 2018 Posted 3 December 2018 you can only counter attack if the other team lets you, contrary to the Puel out propaganda he hasn't scrapped our counter attack he has just said we can't just do that now. As for Vardy he is starting to get more muscle injuries, he will need to adapt his game if this carries on in order to stay available

Ric Flair Posted 3 December 2018 Posted 3 December 2018 He was more involved on Saturday and 2nd half vs Brighton he was a menace. If he can overcome these niggling injuries then there's no reason why he won't average a goal every other game like he did last season under Puel.

Crazy Kop Corner Posted 3 December 2018 Posted 3 December 2018 He was absolutely magic when he came on at Brighton and reminded me of his form in the 2nd half of the Championship winning season and the Premier League winning seasons. Absolutely every where and looked unplayable at times. Perhaps the events of the last 5 weeks have spurred him on as well as us playing more to his strengths. He can cut a frustrated figure at times. I'd love him to get a couple on Saturday and shut that self important lot up.
Countryfox Posted 3 December 2018 Posted 3 December 2018 The problem is the groin is a niggling injury and he can play through it but because of his high tempo aggressive style it does take that razor edge off him. Unfortunately we never really know how much it is affecting him so only comment on what we see. I only hope it clears up and doesn't get worse .... but age/time is against him.
FLAN Posted 3 December 2018 Posted 3 December 2018 I too have a niggling groin injury yet it doesn’t slow me down as I can’t get any slower.... in all seriousness this effects me massively playing 5 a side with mates so the impact on a pro must be massive

It's one of the crappiest muscle injuries one can have. It lasts an eternity and never lets you play at 100% the whole game. There's always the subconscious fear of the sting when running, passing or shooting (leg extension or twist) that makes you sometimes lose concentration at crucial moments. It viciously affects your game and gives the impression to an outsider that you're actually strolling or not giving your best. The worst being after the match, I can remember not even being able to move my right leg in the first 2 days after a game. Got it in my mid-thirties, had to pull off almost 4 months, a relapse two months after that and never ever really got rid of it since then. It basically ended my glorious career in the sunday league.

This season he has been woeful. If it wasn't for his magnificent penalties people would be up in arms. He hasn't even attacked the defence with his closing down this season - until the last game when it looked to me that he once again had a groin twinge. I fear that it could be a long difficult year for Vards and that we need a goalscorer in January.

Stadt Posted 3 December 2018 Posted 3 December 2018 It's not sustainable for him to close down like he did, more often than not he'd be the only player committed to the press due to the rest of the side transitioning into our defensive shape A) making it easy to play around and B) very intense and tiring running for what is usually little gain. Last season most of his goals were from him making an intelligent run and getting picked out from wide and in losing Mahrez we haven't properly replaced one of the best partnerships in Premier League history. Losing Mahrez was always going to be difficult but there's a whole spectrum between Ghezzal and Mahrez.

Even if you need a tri-pod to keep him upright when he shoots.
davieG Posted 3 December 2018 Posted 3 December 2018 Jamie Vardy is a doubt for Leicester’s reunion with Claudio Ranieri at Fulham. The striker is still nursing a groin injury and came off in the 72nd minute of Saturday’s 2-0 win over Watford. The Foxes go to Fulham on Wednesday and face 2016 title winner Ranieri for the first time since he was sacked in February 2017. But boss Claude Puel admitted he does not know if five-goal Vardy will be fit for the Craven Cottage trip. He said: “We will see. I don’t know for the moment. He felt something and we will discuss with the medical staff. “I don’t know my starting team because I have some problems with different players. We will see tomorrow. “I cannot say the players with the problem but I cannot know my starting players in two days. “I don’t know (if he will need surgery). It is a balance to know his feeling. Tomorrow will be another day, it will be for Jamie and other players. “I don’t know who will be available for this important game. Other players must be ready in their minds to play and replace another team-mate.”
lcfc sheff Posted 3 December 2018 Posted 3 December 2018 correct me if i'm wrong, but from a purely observant view his finishing hasn't been anywhere near good enough this season; even though he's had more shots if anything.

rachhere Posted 3 December 2018 Posted 3 December 2018 No, sadly he’s no where near his previous form. He’s clearly been struggling with this injury for quite a while now and they are just doing patch up jobs to keep him going. I wonder if this was a factor in him hanging up his England boots too. I think we are going to have to weigh up between playing him for less minutes but having stronger performances, or more minutes but not making quite the same contribution. I wonder if this is part of the reason as well why Puel was experimenting with Gray up front - he knew we would need to rotate him more this season... although then again why let so Ulloa go if that were the case... Positively matches like the Brighton one the other day show that even if he can’t play as regularly as we would like, he can still make a massive difference. Either way, we urgently need a viable understudy (sorry Nacho-man).
