Jamie Vardy is a doubt for Leicester’s reunion with Claudio Ranieri at Fulham.
The striker is still nursing a groin injury and came off in the 72nd minute of Saturday’s 2-0 win over Watford.

The Foxes go to Fulham on Wednesday and face 2016 title winner Ranieri for the first time since he was sacked in February 2017.

But boss Claude Puel admitted he does not know if five-goal Vardy will be fit for the Craven Cottage trip.

He said: “We will see. I don’t know for the moment. He felt something and we will discuss with the medical staff.

“I don’t know my starting team because I have some problems with different players. We will see tomorrow.

“I cannot say the players with the problem but I cannot know my starting players in two days.

“I don’t know (if he will need surgery). It is a balance to know his feeling. Tomorrow will be another day, it will be for Jamie and other players.

“I don’t know who will be available for this important game. Other players must be ready in their minds to play and replace another team-mate.”

If Vardy has a niggling Groin problem...what would I suggest the club should do???

# Try to Nurse it through the season, asses everyweek..Then game selection/rotation ??

# immediate surgery, accept now his loss for 6wks /2 months/ 4 months, rest of the season??

An obvious thought, than will be at the back of many fans mind and one that He and club must think about...

How to handle it,so Watford doesn't become his final high-point!!

If Iheanacho had progressed how we hoped Vardy would be getting this problem sorted not trying to manage himself through it

You have to give a striker a fair run of games to judge him. Not patches or cameo appearances every now and then. That's the problem we had every striker we bought after 2016.

He took a whack shortly after half time and didn't get back to full chat after that .

Badly needed in next four weeks if they can somehow nurse him through or we would probably have to go with Nacho and or Gray up top.

As I think got mentioned pre match Saturday he's had more big chances and a higher xG per 90 than any of his other prem seasons, it's not a lack of creativity, it's not Puels tactics (no matter what you think of the man, no manager's tactics are to miss big chances) - he's just out of form, unfortunately otherwise we'd be clear in 6th (I can think of the Man Utd, Everton and Burnley games where he's missed good chances - bury those and we've got 4 extra points, while Everton and Man Utd have 2 less)

Bring back the Algerian camel ?

If Vardy was out for a long period, and Puel has nobody in his eyeline, from within, then I would say yes...even more than Shinji!!!

Sounds like an operation in January then or after the Palace game

Jamie needs this injury sorting once and for all. It started back in the summer in the Belgium group game and I reckon it’s never been 100% since. He started the season late probably because of this and has only looked ok in flashes eg Brighton. I believe it was also the reason he quit international football.

We need Nacho to step up but I have a concern sometimes over his attitude (a bit like Beckford from a few years ago).

Agree completely.  He has been having just as many chances as ever he just hasn't quite been firing.  Folk with an agenda use his form to have a dig at Puel but he simply just isn't at his best.  He is still the first name on our team sheet if fully fit and I still love him more than any other player but he has not been quite at it so far this season.  Hopefully he can get back to full fitness and full form soon.  As you say, had he been fully fit from the start we'd be a couple of places higher I have no doubt.  X

I can't see any comparisons between the two?

I think he cant do 90 mins now, but if just used for one half he can use the higher energy level he has available.

My main issue with Nacho is still his first touch, it did improve for a while but its evident its not gone, he can only seem to control the ball if it comes to him slow at a short distance, otherwise hes like a league one player where the ball shoots away from his foot and he has to chase it.

His attitude is a tough one to work out.

Sounds like in the press he may need Surgery on his groin problem, which in a way could spell trouble for us but if he is going to be out for a while do we need to go out in January and get ourselves a new decent striker do we need to recall some of our loans can’t see Slimani stepping up on a return with all the negative reports about him?

But what we don’t want to do is Push Vardy hard and make the problem even worse which could mean more time out than if he went now to have his repair, time for some of the fringe players to step up to the mark and give some decent performances give CP something to think about !

Don't know if anyone saw but on the debate on sky sports there was a stat that since Aubameyang debut in Feb this year, Vardy is the fourth highest scorer behind Aubameyang, Salah and Kane. Not too bad considering he has also scored more than Aguero.

Aguero has also been nursing his own injury as well tbh.

I see your point with regards to Inheanacho but his poor touches is more to do with confidence, Hes become a bit part player lacking consistent gametime which we all know is important. Hes one of a few squad players that i feel deserves extended time due to the fact hes up against JV whos unique and made for LCFC, thats really hard competition which im sure hes looking upto for advice and inspiration moving forward with LCFC. I love the guys vision for goal and his technique with shots at goal, its a beauty to look at sometimes. He has massive potential and im confident in time he will prove his worth. A little bit of patience and support is what this man needs right now.

Hows Nduku coming along, injury wise?

Him and his injury are doing fine, just got past the difficult two month period, and looked like a nice couple, thanks for asking.

Hes had over a year now, will you still be saying this in 3 years time?

A quality player can be out 6 months injured and have a good first touch first game back.

There is the training pitch for improving first touch, game time isnt needed for that.

The way I see it is simple.  If a player after 10 games isnt good enough, follow this flow chart.

Does the player have the potential to overcome problems ?

Yes -> loan the player out to give game time

No -> put on transfer market

Has the player improved after loan time

Yes -> Return to club

No -> put on transfer market

Is the player good enough after reintegration

No -> loan to club at higher level.

Yes -> Give another shot at first team.

I will give some examples.

Shinji impressed within few games.

Maddison impressed within few games.

Ulloa who joined a team who was in harder circumstances was more impressive than nacho

Your argument is you like his shooting technique and that should override his touch and attitude problems.  The problem is we cannot carry him, you seem to be arguing if we only use him for shooting and nothing else then everything is fine, because he is not useful at much else at the moment.  We not manchester city, he did well there as they got so much possession and quality they could work round his issues, and even then he got sold.

His saving grace is tho we dont have many other options.

Shinji is poor as a main striker.

Ulloa and Slimani are gone.

Our saving grace was often we had enough strikers, now I feel we got rid of too many and only one is on any kind of form.

In the fulham game, as soon as shinji came on we had quality up front to support maddison and he scored.

Later in the same game maddison tried a one two with nacho but nacho messed it up.

So if it were me I would do this.

Vardy as main striker with maddison behind him, he seems better in this role than midfield.

If vardy injured or banned, maddison as main striker with shinji behind him.

In summer get a new striker. Get two new strikers if nacho sold.

I doubt we will buy a striker in jan, so nacho has time to prove himself until summer at the very least.

WhatI will say is I really miss ulloa right now, he was always a viable backup to vardy.
