Davies, Lookman to name just two. Plenty at this level look good but don't do it enough at the top level.

Lookman had a very good spell at Leipzig in fairness

Davies is still only 20 and has already captained them. Most everton fans really rate him.

Lookman looked good on loan.

Not sure its like Gray, who is Redmond part 2.

Everton random captain generator was in full swing when he was chosen

don’t know many ev fans who rate him myself, other than the fact he’s a scouser which moves him up about 25 places in the pecking order. if he was foreign/from milton keynes they wouldn’t even know he existed.

Was unheard of for a Leicester player to be anywhere near England international, at any level, during our barren period in the lower leagues.

It's quite something to have 4 on the field at the same today, really brings it home how far we've come.

I make it 7 in our squad so far:

Jamie Vardy

Harry Maguire

Ben Chilwell

Demarai Gray

James Maddison

Harvey Barnes

Hamza Choudhury

They don't own him, Silva hasn't been playing him.

Their attitude towards lookman doesn't seem much different to ours about Gray either. Got talent but failed to transfer it often enough.

Solanki never got a sniff at Liverpool or Chelsea. Everton happy to constantly ship Dowell out on loan, despite being older than Davies.

These squads are always littered with players who have question marks hanging over their ability at the very top, from both the clubs themselves and fans. We aren't unique in having players in their who get questioned.

He should be given more of a chance but he's a year younger than Gray, has 6 goals in 41 top flight appearances compared to Gray's 8 in 105 - the difference is Gray's had enough of a chance and shown that he lacks too much.

Lookman's total career apps, mins, goals & assists:

69 3282 13

7

Gray's

182 9341 16 8

So in roughly a third of the minutes Lookman's output is the same as Gray's. I think sometimes on here (I'm not saying you) people forget how frustrating Gray is, it's easy to say he's young, he's only 22 blah blah but he's played over 100 premier league games (admittedly a lot as a sub), he's not some incredibly raw prospect that needs nurturing. Lookman is younger, better and needs more minutes, Gray if anything has probably had too many minutes for us - we can't continue to persist with him in the hope that it eventually pays off.

It's 02:29 am, why am I making such a dedicated defence of Ademola Lookman ?

Gray reminds me of Jeff back in the championship and Moore in the great escape season in that he can be a good player on his day, but all it takes is for one small mistake and his head drops and there's no coming back from it. With Liam Moore he scored an OG, in the cup I think, and he was never the same after. I feel Puels insistence on trying him as a number 9 only damaged his confidence further as he looked so out of his depth. For me he is best on the right running at pace, forget the fancy footwork, just drive at defenders.

So I was at the game. My thoughts:

Madders pretty indifferent. Few early flicks and tricks, but didn't link up overly well with either of the two big strikers used. Wasn't overly taken by his body language. Either languid or simply jogging about? If the latter, then not impressed.

Barnes looked dangerous but didn't manage to pull the trigger on the chances he created. Boy does he need a goal.

Gray like Madders was in and out. Few breaks but yeilded no end product. I admit he frustrates me to distraction, so my view is biased.

The Fro looked tidy and very physical in his brief cameo. I think he could be a competent holding midfielder. He likes the rough stuff and can pass simple.

All in all only Madders got real minutes and he was not overly impressive. Poland mostly parked the bus and we couldn't unpick them, going side to side. We were better on the break, but wasteful with our final balls.

Please don't class me and many others in with you lot of haterz.

I like Gray and I like Madderz and Hamza is going to be on Barcelona's want list soon.

I don't know why you are defending him either because I haven't slagged the lad off and I'm not comparing the two players. Look back to the OP I replied to and it's about other teams seeming under 21's as surpless to requirements etc. Which Everton do currently as Silva doesn't play him. I'm certainly not defending Gray either as I've said umpteen times he needs to step up.

harvey barnes is sensational, he just goes past men as if they don’t exist. it’s remarkable.

end product will get better and better with time and experience. he’s the new gazza.

I wouldn't wish that on anyone - I'd prefer him to be the 'old' Gazza

In fairness being delusional is not an exclusive Club here on FT so the file must be massive:ph34r:
