goal and an assist for Ayoze against Betis, the first match Betis have lost in over 2 months

He’s done really well back in Spain since leaving us. 20 goals and assists this season in 25 games.

You’d argue that of all the big players that have left us recently, he’s achieved the most, having won the European Championship with Spain last year.

Look at it though….

Perez - European Cup

Barnes - League cup

Tielemans - 4th in Prem / UCL Qtr Final

Maddison - 5th in Prem / largely injured

Barnes hasn’t  been a roaring success though , my  mate who supports them recons he’s had about 3-4 good games max .

8 goals 3 assists in 1100 minutes now this season, the lack of minutes obviously precludes him from being considered a massive success but that's a great return in the minutes he has had

That's a bit of a reach isn't it, he played 12 minutes in total in 1 game.

Yeah.

I still think we should have kept him around in 22/23, as he at least worked hard and had some ability.

That entire midfield that have now left (and Ndidi) shouldn’t have been performing to the standard they were.

That team that got relegated was every bit as good as the Newcastle and West Ham teams that went down (that shouldn’t have).

Harvey has always been a streaky player though, he goes on runs of excellent form and follows it up with 5 or 6 games where he's anonymous.

With Anthony Gordon being injured, Barnes has come back into the fold and gotten good returns. Three goals and two assists in the last 4 PL games, I've read plenty of Toon fans saying he's made a claim to still be starting when Gordon returns

edit: for context Harvey has 8 goals and 3 assists in only 1167 league minutes, Gordon has 6 goals and 6 assists in 2136 minutes (almost twice as many)

It was strange that Newcastle threw so much money at 2 similar players who play in the same position when PSR has stopped them strengthening in other areas, and they might even have to sell a major asset in the Summer.

Yeo this was the conversation I was having with him . . He messaged me about him scoring two goals  to wind me up . I replied with yeah but how many good games has he had for you . With  which he replied 3-4 . , his numbers might look good but  some of those games he scored but  done absolutely nothing else ..

Former Leeds United defender Patrick Kisnorbo has been appointed interim manager of Japanese outfit Yokohama F. Marinos.

The 44-year-old was a revered figure at Elland Road in his playing days, having endeared himself to supporters with his full-blooded approach.

Injury limited him to 58 appearances for the Whites, but he played a key role in the club’s League One promotion-winning 2009/10 campaign.

He also starred as the Whites knocked Manchester United out of the FA Cup in January 2010.
