Don't think it's quite comparable - would be more like a Villa / Newcastle winning the PL in 2026

Hearts haven't won it since 1959/1960, but such an achievement this season from them would be massive on that side of the UK.

I wouldn't assume Hearts are winning it.

We've seen fantastic opening bursts by Aberdeen (and look at them now) and Hearts (years ago under George Burley), which ultimately failed as they faltered and the OF got relentless.

I hate the Glasgow arse cheeks, I really do, and it would be great to break their stranglehold, but there's a LONG way to go.

Someone mentioned to me on here a couple of weeks ago, Hearts played Celtic off the park today. Every stat pretty much shows them as the runaway best team in the SPL whereas Aberdeen didn’t have that last season.

With Rangers too far behind and Rodgers in his traditional 3rd season meltdown. Assuming Hearts will further strengthen in Jan, I think its about as good a chance as they'll have. Given the start.

McInnes is a superb SPL manager as well.

You are right though, long way to go snd plenty can happen between now and May

I remember Kilmarnock a few seasons ago being top for some time and again questions being asked if they could go on to do the unthinkable but their form just dipped around February and March.

Be good for Scottish and British football too see Hearts lift the title. Just imagine the league title has not left the city of Glasgow for over 30 years!

41 seasons to be precise.          Interestingly (or not), Celtic and Rangers are currently tied on 55 titles each.

Not only that, they were looking at relegation at this point last year. I don't think the LCFC comparison is that far off.

It is far off though. They're an established club in that league with decent resource. I'm not saying them winning the league wouldn't be astonishing – but we'd had one season up then went and won the thing with one of the lowest wage bills and transfer spends in the division.

Once you get past TOF wage bills are almost a wash in the SPL. Hearts are middle of the pack, less than a third of the OF clubs. They are an established side as compared to what we were, but this would still be a totally out of nowhere title.

I'm not disagreeing with the last part.
