HesNotGudjonsonn2 Posted 5 January 2020 Posted 5 January 2020 Hi Guys, I have a question and thought I would see if anyone on here could help me as it seems really difficult to find this simple answer online. I have a 2006 Omega Planet Ocean and the box is a bit worn so I bought a new one online. I just can’t tell if it is real. It is well made and looks the part but just has slight differences which make me wonder. Of course they do change the design over the years so it could be completely right but I am not sure. The writing on the outer box is smaller than my old one and has an added bit and the inner box is brighter leather. I have added some pics and if anyone could help that would be great. Only cost £35 so not major loss if not and also am considering the wooden box. Please see attached photo. Thanks Gudjy

Just take it to an independent watch retailer or the jewellery quarter in Brum. Or are you just humble-bragging?
Wolfox Posted 5 January 2020 Posted 5 January 2020 It’s the box…. Doesn’t really matter too much, just don’t sell it as an original set with the replacement box, as it isn’t and you can’t guarantee authenticity of its replacement… Omega have multiple different box types from numerous models and eras…. They’re not identikit The original worn box has more value in a set as it original…. Just stick it in a peli case (or whatever) if you’re concerned about wear to the original box… Authenticity is key to any collectors and a shinier box that is incorrect will only cast doubt on the main item… enjoy the PO…. It’s a bit bulky for my taste, but, a solid watch that should age well…

HesNotGudjonsonn2 Posted 5 January 2020 Author Posted 5 January 2020 Hi Guys, Thanks for any helpful responses and thanks for the nonsense too. Not humble bragging, just asking a question on a forum with lots of people and so maybe someone knew. I’m not going to go to Brum to check out a box as it would cost more in time and petrol than the box is worth. I simply wanted to know if anyone knew for my own knowledge. thanks Gudjy

So can anyone help with the box for my Patek Phillippe...😉 https://www.chronext.co.uk/patek-philippe/grand-complications/5204r-001/C76980?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIjreDvZnt5gIVArDtCh0AWgGAEAQYASABEgLwXvD_BwE
VLC86 Posted 5 January 2020 Posted 5 January 2020 Can you post a picture of the watch? I went absolutely mental after we won the league and bought an Omega (which I’ve now sold before anyone starts) and that came in a wooden effect box I think.
twoleftfeet Posted 5 January 2020 Posted 5 January 2020 HesNotGudjonsonn2 does yours turn your wrist green like mine?

Kopic Posted 6 January 2020 Posted 6 January 2020 My girlfriend works in jewelry insurance, specialising in modern watches. I asked her to take a look at your post but she said the photo provided isn't enough to base an opinion. She did however say the stitching on the corners of the red box looked poor. She says there are a hell of a lot of fake boxes for all premium brands available, the office she works in get sent several every day from clients fooled by the quality of them. She suggests taking it to any local official omega stockist (of which there are 3 in Leicester) and they should be able to tell you. For full clarity, she isn't personally willing to advise any authenticity of a watch or a box without seeing it in person, so probably isn't much help.
Blarmy Posted 6 January 2020 Posted 6 January 2020 My girlfriend is a dance teacher and can’t help at all I’m afraid. She wishes you all the best though.
UpTheLeagueFox Posted 6 January 2020 Posted 6 January 2020 I haven't had a girlfriend for almost 13 years (or a boyfriend for that matter).
