Wonder if they will look back at stripping Premiership and European titles.

If Ulster dont win the European cup (unlikey anyway), I kind of hope Exeter win it to get some silverware.

The laws empowered the Prem to deduct points ergo relegate them for breach.

There's no such law written to retrospectively remove titles for a salary cap beach. I'm not saying it's impossible but they'd need to create and then retrospectively enforce laws for it to happen.

So if probably won't.

Will they come back as there was talk of promotion/relegation being scrapped ?

Will the top players join other English clubs .

They have to lower their wage bill, so in theory they would already have had to get rid of a few or at least re-arrange contracts. We’ll see though. The Prem say they will stick check their accounts even when they’re out of it to judge as to whether they should be promoted again.

It would be funny if they scrapped promotion the only season they’ll be down there, but sure they wouldn’t now at least until they’re back. They shouldn’t do it anyway.

To do away with promotion /relegation the vote would have to be unanimous and as Sarries are prem shareholders its my understanding that they would automatically be a part of a sterile no relegation prem anyway--God forbid it ever happens it would destroy top class English rugby at a stroke.

On the second point, most clubs have already budgeted for next seasons players - fairly - unlike Sarries, this probably includes French sides too and of course there would be no England caps if players went abroad.

Most likely want away players would become free agents, but they would still be entitled to force Sarries to abide by their contracts unless there was a relegation clause in them (fairly unlikely but who knows)

I can see Saracens paying players off this season to lower next seasons much more limited wage bill, then the players will be free to join other clubs at a discount rate for a year.

I really can't see the big names playing in the Championship, although they would still be available for England, what sort of competition would they be getting each week?

Then there are the sponsors, they won't pay top price for players who are never seen!

And as the big names probably make more from posing next to the boots than using them it would probably be better to play for free and keep the sponsors!

What a mess Mr Wray has made for others to clear up!

I can see a few clubs having some board meetings this week with twitchy bums as they look at their own finances and what accusations from a falling Sarries chairman that might be coming their way....

We'll get a taste of what a no relegation prem is like now... Any club still in Europe (and domestic cups) will probably play their strongest XV there cos there's little to lose in the league.

"Saracens have accepted relegation rather than returning their Premiership trophies from 2018 and 2019 or letting independent auditors at their books."

Bullshit, shouldn't be able to be punished for cheating in those periods but avoid handing back trophies.

Probably takes a lot of matches to get used to this! Probably gives an insight in to other commentators' lives too.

Love the idea of working in sports media but would take some amount of time to get used to that amount of voices.

The other video during a match is also very 'noisy'

Went under the radar but Saracens lost to the part time Cornish Pirates yesterday.

They didn’t have a great pre season either losing twice to Ealing.

An Ealing v Saracens final looks a certainty but with the shortened format if Saracens lose again, they have a real problem

What happens if they do come back up though? As far as I'm aware there isn't a salary cap in the championship but they've kept most of their players and therefore wouldn't be complying within the salary cap if were to come back up.

Jheez what a hit

Can’t see the problem ……

looked like a perfectly reasonable tackle ……

I worry for the future of rugby - it’s changed so much over the past thirty years.  The forwards used to fight it out amongst themselves and then the ball would occasionally arrive with the backs who used to try and side stel their way to the try line. It’s become more about running over your opponent at speed than around them.  Too dangerous !
