HowardsBulletHeader Posted 28 January 2020 Posted 28 January 2020 6 weeks today the festival starts. Anyone going this year? Any early fancies?
Osavo Posted 28 January 2020 Posted 28 January 2020 Not going this year unfortunately but looking forward to it nonetheless. Hoping Defi goes for the Champion Chase as reckon him vs Altior would be a fantastic race. Delta Work to take the Gold Cup.
LinekersLugs Posted 29 January 2020 Posted 29 January 2020 These are my post chelt bets as with most years I expect nothing in return 🤣🤣🤣 a treble , a trixie and a super yankee
Bert Posted 29 January 2020 Posted 29 January 2020 Oh yes I’m going. Cannot wait. One of the best weeks of the year, for me. Love the build up, reading the forums, doing homework, the telegraph competition, and the roar.
Foxoffice Posted 30 January 2020 Posted 30 January 2020 Going the Thursday and Friday, can’t wait one of my favourites on the calendar.
Bayfox Posted 31 January 2020 Posted 31 January 2020 Got rooms sorted at my mates as normal. Arrive monday, leave thursday morning. So 2 days at the races. However still haven't actually bothered to buy tickets must get round to sorting otherwise its play the touts game.
BrummieFOX Posted 31 January 2020 Posted 31 January 2020 Going Gold Cup day. I went in Club last year but didn't really see a huge benefit over Best Mate to be honest. So, back in Best Mate for us.
Bert Posted 23 February 2020 Posted 23 February 2020 Two working weeks left!!! Skybet only refunding £10 max on first race this year. Any other firms doing first race special?

ScouseFox Posted 26 February 2020 Posted 26 February 2020 corona virus gonna stop it anyway, don’t get yourselves excited

oxford blue Posted 26 February 2020 Posted 26 February 2020 2 hours ago, ScouseFox said: corona virus gonna stop it anyway, don’t get yourselves excited That's rather pessimistic. it will go ahead unless there is a serious spike in cases in UK; it isn't as though there are large numbers coming from Italy or other country hit by the virus. For anyone going or having a bet - will all the rain have an effect on races?I was told today if reasonably dry till meeting, going will be good, although will the wet weather have had an effect on training? Anyone with any expertise on this?
LinekersLugs Posted 28 February 2020 Posted 28 February 2020 Kildisert in the Ultima Handicap day one 14/1 eachway

The Bear Posted 3 March 2020 Posted 3 March 2020 Looking forward to this too. My only ante post bets are Epatante (Champion Hurdle) and Lord Du Mesnil (National Hunt Chase).
The Bear Posted 3 March 2020 Posted 3 March 2020 My mate at work is adamant on Santini in the Gold Cup. Says it ran at Cheltenham a few weeks back and absolutely charged up the hill after the last, beating Bristol De Mai by several lengths. Altior to get beaten too. He's looking vulnerable to a couple of younger horses and isn't quite as good as he was.

Can see the whole festival being dominated by the Irish.

DDS v Altior very interesting. Can’t wait. If you can catch any preview nights they’re well worth a watch.

He’s relatively unexposed too, watch his performance in the cotswold and last years RSA and I think his improvement is huge. He’ll be even better next time out in the GC. However, do I think he deserves to be as short in the betting as he is? No. I still think Kemboy is the value punt. Mullins seems fairly confident that he can reverse the form with Delta Work. He’s had an awful year being messed around with training etc but If he runs anywhere close to his full potential he’ll be in the top 2/3.

Lots of people are going for Al Boum Photo. Although he’s not won this season, Presenting Percy has had a much better prep this season and was widely fancied last year. Could be good each way value. If I had to stick my neck on the line now and choose a winner I would go for Clan Des Obeaux though. There’s a great shout for any of them especially when on the day it’ll be one of the smallest fields for a gold cup.

It’s a bit odd that ABP is the outright favourite and current holder but does seem to be slightly forgotten imo at the moment. Very rare to see a gold cup winner win another race the following year let alone the gold cup but he won his warmup at Tramore very nicely. Percy looked great coming round the bend at Leopardstown and thought he would win the Irish Gold cup, was travelling like a dream. Definitely agree with you on that. However can’t agree with Clan Des Obeaux!! Not entirely sure why, hasn’t done a lot wrong. Just don’t fancy it!

I can’t even pinpoint why I fancy it, it’s just sticking out at me for some reason. I’m halfway through the Unibet preview night. So haven’t got as far as the gold cup yet. Everyone keen on DDS to turn Altior over, apart from Henderson. Obviously.
