I think the general idea was forward planning to have young Centre Back cover that can be developed, the general theory being that it's better to have too much than not enough. 

 

Obviously nobody could foresee injury problems, and he's still not a failure, as Evans will need replacing eventually. The fact he's gone out on loan tends to suggest he's well regarded, and they want him to get up to speed without exposing him to the very best immediately, especially since it is hard to argue against our current CB pairing. 

 

So that's why. Bennett is a safe option that allows this to happen, so we get our cake and eat it. I hope that answers you, and saves us a further bombardment of exclamation marks...

Thank you for your elucidation. I don't think I said he was a failure more of a crock. Similarly with James who will never play for us again at the top level. As for Bennett time will tell!!

There is really no comparison between the SFL & the Championship.The Champ is way more competitive with much higher quality.

I think the move is fantastic for Benko as he really will be competing at a higher level.

Bristol City have won their last four league matches without conceding a goal, so was unlikely he would go straight into the starting lineup unless they have injuries or suspensions.

Well they have won four on the trot and are challenging for at least the play offs. Won their last game away not conceding. Would you change the team?
