Leicester City Football Club welcomes the decision reached by the professional football bodies in England today (Thursday), as the game’s stakeholders continue to adapt to the evolving challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.
King Power Stadium
Our primary concern is the health and wellbeing of the public, including all members of the Leicester City family, and our thoughts are with everyone affected by COVID-19.

While King Power Stadium remains operational, home-working has been implemented among all staff for whom this is possible and appropriate measures have been taken to ensure the wellbeing of all personnel still present on-site. The Foxes Fanstore and City Sales Centre will be closed from 4pm on Friday 20 March (online services remain open). Our players continue to train remotely and the Club remains agile to the changing requirements of this unprecedented scenario as it develops.

Leicester City in the Community will continue with the delivery of the Premier League Primary Stars and Premier League Inspires programmes while schools remain open. Thereafter they will continue to offer support to partner schools through activities for vulnerable young people and children of key workers. Opportunities to offer further services to our communities during this period continue to be explored.

The Club sends its very best wishes to all supporters and stakeholders at this time and looks forward to the resumption of football as soon as it is safe and possible for it to return.

JOINT STATEMENT ISSUED BY PROFESSIONAL FOOTBALL BODIES IN ENGLAND

The FA, Premier League, EFL and women’s professional game, together with the PFA and LMA understand we are in unprecedented times and our thoughts are with everyone affected by COVID-19.

We are united in our commitment to finding ways of resuming the 2019/20 football season and ensuring all domestic and European club league and cup matches are played as soon as it is safe and possible to do so.

We have collectively supported UEFA in postponing EURO 2020 to create space in the calendar to ensure domestic and European club league and cup matches have an increased opportunity to be played and, in doing so, maintain the integrity of each competition.

The FA’s Rules and Regulations state that “the season shall terminate not later than the 1 June” and “each competition shall, within the limit laid down by The FA, determine the length of its own playing season”. However, The FA’s Board has agreed for this limit to be extended indefinitely for the 2019/20 season in relation to Professional Football. Additionally, we have collectively agreed that the professional game in England will be further postponed until no earlier than 30 April.

The progress of COVID-19 remains unclear and we can reassure everyone the health and welfare of players, staff and supporters are our priority. We will continue to follow Government advice and work collaboratively to keep the situation under review and explore all options available to find ways of resuming the season when the conditions allow.

We would all like to re-emphasise that our thoughts are with everyone affected by COVID-19.

What does that mean in practice?

Individual fitness regimes to be followed at home? Non-contact group training sessions? Normal training but no competitive games? :dunno:

Bloody obscurist jargon.....

I went for a walk down the canal in Leeds today and was passed twice by Allioski and Jean Augustin just running with each other.

How did they pass you twice, did they stop for a fag?

Came past me one way down the canal and then obviously stopped at the other end and decided to run back the other way. They might have stopped for a fag but it would be unfair to speculate in this time of uncertainty.

"We're happy with the FA's decision. We're still open and some people are working from home. We're worried about the health of our staff. The academy programs will stay open while the schools do. We'll change things quickly if other things change. Hopefully we'll get the football back on soon."

I was at the check out next to Admiral Muskwe in Sainsbury’s yesterday. It really is great to see the stars keeping it real at this tough time.

You weren’t tempted to ask him if he’s a real Admiral then? I bet he loves that joke.

Surprised you resisted the urge to fan boy in the presence of obvious greatness.

On a similar and much lighter note, Brendan smells fabulous when he's doing interviews after the game.

I think he's a Creed man.

Daniel Farke is another who always smells good.

Jeff Schlupp came into work one day and all the women went mad as he smelt amazing, but nobody would ask what he was wearing

Always had Brendan down as more a penhaligon kind of bloke

'Our primary concern... Our thoughts are with...unprecedented times...stakeholders ...guidelines...health and welfare...fully commited...'

God almighty! When exactly was the English language ditched in favour of this meaningless, weasely, corporate babble?

PS: Obviously my thoughts (and prayers) are with everybody affected by this (unprecedented) thing at this etc etc.

I think ultimately "training remotely" will transfer over into the style of play adopted by most teams i.e. long ball, biff bash bosh, little contact, I'll ping it to you from 50 yards mate and see what you can do with it. It could also bring a new dimension to the concept of zonal marking. This will translate over into "zonal play" where only two players will be allowed into a zone at any one time to ensure social distancing is maintained.

Which mangers will be able to adopt to this new style of play? Very likely Pulis will make a comeback; Harry Bassett will definitely be wheeled out for one more crack at keeping a team (any team) up, and blow me down, if John Fashanu doesn't make a comeback.

COVID-19: KingsX Statement – 20 March, 2020

Here I sit, a common story

suspended in this purgatory

Bored as hell, but not infected;

No COVID (nor much life) detected.

No games to watch, no transfer news,

no refs to hate.  Gives me the blues

FT no longer is my fix,

this Desert of a thousand clicks.

Footballers who cannot play

are duller than Puel in gray.

Madders’ clothing?  not my shout

Ain’t much left to talk about.

Posters once so on the money

classic threads that were so funny

Now tired enough to make me dream

of a millionth post in Name This Team.

And if this poem is even worse

than all the shite, I’ve posted erst

I’ll gladly fall upon my sword.

forgive me Lord -- I am that bored.
