I moved from Freetrade to Trading 212 and much prefer it. The aer on uninvested funds is pretty good too.

Interested to know which platforms you all use to buy shares. Can you guess i'm new to this game?

HL. There’s plenty to choose from it depends what you’re investing in and how often you

intend to trade etc.  They have different standing charges and different trading charges,HL

for example charge about £12 to trade a stock but don’t charge to trade a fund, just see which

one suits you.

In other words you'd better not be using HL to trade stocks, as its free on T212

I’m certainly not recommending HL over any other trading platforms, I was

just answering the question as it’s what I use. I’m sure there’s better value

out there.

Depends on how much you are investing / trading.

212 make their cut in the price. You won't be quoted as good a price by them but if it's smaller values it's still the best.

Not sure of your point here, if you do your own research and like the stock Lako suggests then invest if you want to. If you don't, you don't. Some people in this thread have, some haven't. Simple.

If you're taking investment advice from random people on FoxesTalk (or any internet forum for that matter) and not willing to do your own research to support it, you probably shouldn't have an investment account.

Oh my lord!

It was a bit of gentle ribbing after the famboying of a stock, no harm intended.

Put your sword of righteousness away my good fellow.

Fair enough, people interpret things in different ways. I took it you were digging him out, which I take back entirely.

To any inexperienced investors reading the thread, it's probably worth mentioning some basics i.e. only invest what you are prepared to lose, always have a balanced portfolio (don't pump all your savings on EEE!), it's better to invest gradually and regularly rather than whacking big lump sums in, etc.

Well more to remember we are all 'inexperienced' - unless you have black edge it's not accurate to say 'do your own research' on a penny stock and everything will be fine. There's a whole industry able to front run you.

You forgot to mention the mist important thing and that's to be lucky.

Or be corrupt. That works too.

Agreed, hence my post on black edge above. The floors of Jane Street, Citadel et al see so much flow they will always be well ahead of you. 'Doing your own research' comprises prob 10% of trading reality on small cap equity.

S'ok mate I have a thick skin 😊

I always consider this thread as essentially a gambling thread and a bantz thread.

I reserve the right to extract the maximum amount of urine out of other people's loss/gains without ponying up my own 😉

I think this must be T212 warning me about @Lako42 ! lol

======================================================================

We want to make you aware of a growing scam trend targeting retail investors, particularly through social media and messaging apps. It’s called a ramp-and-dump (or pump-and-dump) scheme — and it can lead to serious financial losses.

How it works:
Scammers pose as trusted contacts, investment advisors, or even romantic interests. They often invite you to join private groups or chats where they “share tips” about supposedly promising stocks. These are typically low-volume, low-cap stocks (often referred to as “penny stocks”).

The scam plays out like this:
 - They promote a stock with claims of insider knowledge, hidden value, or upcoming news.
 - As unsuspecting investors buy in and push the price up, the scammers offload their own holdings at inflated prices.
 - Once they sell, the price crashes — and you’re left with the losses.

What to watch out for:
 - Tips from strangers or unsolicited messages about “can’t-miss” investments.
 - Claims of inside info or secret opportunities.
 - Urgency or pressure to buy immediately.
 - Private chat groups or forums with hype and little substance

I know this is probably(Hopefully!) in jest but to be fair to Lako he always says do your own research and if anyone just invests money after reading it on a football forum then (No disrespect) they deserve to lose all their money.

The government set to cut the cash ISA allowance.

Bet it increases tax receipts a negligible amount. Simply can’t try and save a little bit for retirement or something nice.

Let’s just hope she’s daft enough to not realise that most stocks and shares ISA’s pay interest on your uninvested cash sat in the account.

It's more about a push into S&S ISA instead of cash.

Either way it's another daft policy from the Govt.

I remember this place being very joyful last year, not so much now living under a labour govt - they are after the disabled next.
