Wow why would one be so petty to take that down? On another note thanks for the idea I’m going to stick one on our work tree and see what happens.

Its a great idea, I’m going to replace the star at the top of ours with a laminated picture of Soumare

Let’s all do it and take photos. Might put a Pearson pic on instead of the angel

We have a communal Xmas tree per floor at my office, for everyone to decorate. On my floor there is my dept and a friendly but v gobby dept. I keep putting a picture of Vardy up on one of the lower branches, and someone keeps taking it down. I keep printing and putting another one up.

One of the gobs came over and in the British manner of I'm-actually-annoyed-at-you-but-will-come-across-jokingly-to-avoid-conflict said to stop putting his pic up. In the same manner I said It's a communal tree and I am taking up a tiny part of it, so what's the problem, I don't need to get my decoration approved?

So I guess we will keep playing this game until xmas.

Sometimes the American way of having a massive argument over a trivial issue is easier.

The gob came over with the Vardy picture, gave it to me, and actually said I need to get my decoration approved by her. This is British etiquette to the next level.

I will keep sticking the picture up obvs, but figured the real way to annoy them all is to remove their decorations.

Steady on you'll probably get 3 years inside for what you're up to, it is Britain after all.

Haha can we have context? Is it her tree? How senior is she? Who does she support?

Context :

HR email - each floor will get a tree to decorate communally, everybody have fun in this office activity!!

On my floor there is my dept and said other dept who are very gobby, all been at the firm pretty much their whole careers and none likely to ever leave. There are some 'big' personalities who involve themselves in lots of office politics, organise all the socials and generally know all the goss. They are loud and like to take control. That said they are friendly. The person who's taken offence at king Vardy is a few years older than me, also front office and same level in the hierarchy as me.

I would take it as a given that we can all decorate the tree as and when we wish, but they have organised a mandatory decoration session tomorrow.

Edit - 'supports' Arsenal nut never been to an Arsenal match

Start singing the Jamie Vardys Magic, he wears a magic hat song really loud next to her.

The passive aggressive removal of other decorations from the tree is a complete winner.

Maybe add a random note to the tree?

If it needs to be further escalated then I fully support your decision to cut bits off the tree until it becomes a festive twig.

And where in the HR email did it say that gobby was in charge of the decorations on that tree? Clearly very bitter about Vardy not signing for Arsenal.

Perhaps she doesn't consider it Christmasy enough, can you add a bit of tinsel?

What's got worse?

Crime for one. I do not feel safe in London anymore and purposely stay away. Decline in West end shopping - e.g Oxford St and its American candy stores. I used to work there in the 90s and it's completely different now. Not completely khans fault, but what has he done to help?

Pressing on with ULEZ expansion is another, and yes I know he inherited it from Boris.

He also has a face you want to slap.

At least aesthetically London's really declined in the last few years. Rubbish everywhere. As bad now as some poor neighbourhoods in Balkan cities I used to go to.

Knife point robberies up 36%, nearly 8k per year. That's 22 in London every day.

1 rape is reported every hour.

320 young black people have lost their lives to knife crime since 2016.

On average, 143 phones are stolen in London every day.

A Knighthood for him is an insult!

ULEZ is an improvement. Air quality has improved to unprecedented levels. This is only bad if you don’t give a shit about public health, especially developing lungs in children.

High St retail is a global issue experienced by all with developing online services…but still one that is misunderstood and exaggerated. Apportioning blame for national and international factors to a local mayor is a bit stiff imo.

And crime?

Gun crime

Under Sadiq Khan, gun crime has soared by 2,500% in just one year,’ claimed Tottenham Conservative Association – several of whose members have stood as Tory candidates in local elections – in a recent post on X. It referred to the scandal as the “Khan crime wave”. The statistic was repeated in a Daily Telegraph article in January.

The figure is shocking – and untrue. It originated in a flawed analysis of Home Office data by the Daily Mail, which later retracted the claim and acknowledged its error.”

So, that leaves you with “a punchable face”, and I’m willing to bet far more people would find the previous mayor’s face far more punchable.
