I'll be 69 yrs old tomorrow.

Today I had an invitation to take up a deal on a cremation plan and a flier advertising an open day at a supported living complex for "seniors".

**** off.

Vultures.

Happy Birthday for tomorrow.

I live in a bungalow, in a Crescent of bungalows, the demographic of neighbours is largely 'mature'.

All of our flyers are for funeral plans, mobility scooters and assisted living aids. Worryingly, I've started glancing at a few of them and I'm only 51!!

Why do quiz contestants clap themselves when they get the correct answers?

Because they’re told to by producers and won’t pass the audition if they don’t . If you’ve ever watched Catchphrase you’ll see on that one people act incredibly unnaturally happy, almost in a ceeepy way where they put on these over exaggerated smiles and laughs. They’re told to do that in the auditions and screened to see if they can.

I'm sure you're right but it looks so stupid when it's and individual contestant.

I completely agree. Catchphrase especially looks so fake and manufactured, like something from the Truman Show, but I wouldn’t blame the players over the producers.

Yes, they are probably told to, but they are also likely to be the sort that clap when the plane lands.

Should have a Vaughan William composition, maybe 'O God of Earth and Altar', and set some lyrics to it about English rivers and cathedrals and stuff. Obviously after the union has been dissolved of course.

Agreed. Two points really. It should be about the country rather than the monarch. Also need a much better tune.

Something above 40bpm wouldn’t go amiss either.

The absolute hypocrisy of so many people supporting the Farmers protest tomorrow. The same people putting their weight behind it are the same that want teachers and nurses to be banned from striking and want Just Stop Oil and Insulate Britain protestors in prison for blocking roads.

You either support the right to protest or you don't. I fully support the right of anyone to protest peacefully, regardless of whether I feel it's a worthy cause or not.

People just love sucking up to land owners.

Had an interesting discussion with my 18 year old daughter about the hierarchy of swear words/insults earlier.

Last night she was cleaning her teeth in the bathroom and left the door wide open. I walked in to get something out of the cupboard and she kicked off at me. I replied "well if you want privacy, lock the door you dick head!"

Now in my world, calling someone a dick head is a mild insult and not much worse than calling someone an idiot or a Muppet (was it Jasper Carrott who invented dick head? If so, it was all in jest and not that serious)

So imagine my surprise when she responded with "DON'T CALL ME A DICK HEAD YOU FVCKING CVNT!!!"

It must be a generational thing because I wouldn't dream of saying that to my parents but apparently calling someone a cvnt is the norm now :dunno:

Agree that her response was unacceptable to one of her parents.

But I would say that although much less offensive, calling one of your children a dick head is also not really the done thing. :o

Change of gear, but this was the weather forecast on my local BBC news (Reporting Scotland)  earlier:

Interesting that the towns of Tongue and Wick were highlighted.

Kenneth Williams' head would have exploded.

Fair comment, not my proudest moment tbf. It was more in jest on my part but can see how it's not really the done thing (although she's technically an adult now!)

Just found it interesting how her generation see them as similar insults whereas for me it's a whole different level.

God if I'd called my folks a cvnt I'd have never seen daylight againlol

Cvnt is definitely more commonly used lately than it ever used to be. Some areas more than others as well, a very polarising word

Yeah, unfortunate what you said but your daughter's response would have shocked me and I would be very annoyed

You can think both the plight of farmers and that of nurses and teachers are worthy causes without thinking nurses and teachers should have the right to strike given their almost unique position as being able to screw up a lot of people lives in a very short period of time.
