I haven't drank for over 7 years but a tip my uncle gave me years ago when I did always helped.

Just before you go to bed after drinking (if you remember!) take 2 paracetamol with a glass of water.

Wake up, and the hangover isn't that bad.

Always worked for me.

I feel like if you remember to do that you're probably not drunk enough to get a hangover anyway :D

That's a fair point. There were times before going out on a bender that I'd leave paracetamol and post it notes all over the house to remind me then I'd get in late and still forget :D

Weekends now are mainly being Dads taxi or visiting elderly parents.

You're in that place known as the "sandwich generation".

That only stops when your parents pass away.

Yeah I was talking to a mate about being in the sandwich generation recently. Will be lucky if my Mum makes it through Xmas as she's in palliative care and don't think my old man will be far behind.

Teenage kids driving round the bend and the wife going through the change.

Not the easiest period of my life I'll be honest.

Always done this myself. Although I have forgotten a few times and woken up with some of the worst hangover's known to man. I suffer with migraines without a tipple but they are really bad when hungover.

I also used to have 2 before I went out.

two pints of water for me without the paracetamol.

End up pissing like a racehorse but I'll be hangover-free.

Same but with milk instead of the water. Always does the trick on the rare occasion I drink.

Pretty much been in that situation myself too.

Not easy and we're certainly not alone.

It's sad fact that, once your elderly dependents pass away, life does become easier.

A lot going on mate which is tough. All you can do is day-by-day it and handle each as best as you can.

I am in a different situation as my mum passed away in her late 50s back in 2011. My dad is in very poor health so can go at any moment given his heart issues. I am 45 next month and don't think I will make it out of my 40s with a parent still being alive.

I am jealous of others whose parents were around to enjoy their retirement and grandchildren. The flip side to that is dealing with managing elderly parents in ailing health. Both shitty situations.

I still, even as a middle aged guy on the downward slope doing a job I relatively like, hate Sunday nights in absolute equal measure to the amount I love Friday nights.

48 hours - but a world apart.

Yeah same. I like the European way of opening late on Monday and easing into the week a bit slower. The change is too abrupt here so like you say Sunday becomes some kind of depressing cliff edge into another week.

I'll be 69 yrs old tomorrow.

Today I had an invitation to take up a deal on a cremation plan and a flier advertising an open day at a supported living complex for "seniors".

**** off.

Vultures.
