Like I’ve said before he’s steady. Great game tonight stop battering him when he’s not doing well. Always gives 100%

He been far from steady, he been a total liability for years absolutely horrendous. Tonight he was steady with a couple of rash moments. Hopefully he can continue to improve under Gary.

He’s improving rapidly under Rowett. It goes to show that people that just slate players and label them non-league etc are completely ignoring the psychological side of the game. I have always said that Thomas’ development was an absolute shambles from the club. He then went on loan to an abysmal Sheffield United side getting pumped week in week out. The negativity of that loan likely carries on to the second half of that season at Middlesbrough and so on. And he has increasingly been in this hole.

He is showing he can be solid enough at this level. My main concern would be whether Rowett will leave him a more confident and improved player or whether his improved form might be linked to Rowett and tank again under a new manager…

I thought he was very good last night, his confidence seems to be returning and he looks more solid since Rowett has come in.

He always gives 100% even when he is struggling and having a poor run of form, you can see how much playing for this club means to him. He has taken an absolute battering these last 2/3 seasons, you also have to take into account he was still as relatively young and inexperienced player when the wheels came off the bus at the club and that can have a huge impact on young players. The culture has changed massively, has as the character and attitude of his fellow squad members, I imagine it’s been quite an unhappy and toxic environment in recent seasons.

I really hope he can gain some confidence and use the run in to get his career back on track, he is here for the long term so hopefully if he can come good again we will end up with a very solid left back more than capable of performing at top end championship level.

Was my MOTM last night - put a massive shift in, read the game very well and was solid both at the back and moving forwards.

Needs consistency but so much more promising from him.

Shown real desire, heart, effort over Rowetts short tenure, still gets knackered, so makes mistakes, BUT if can continue this and be a little better the rest of the season, without any left back alternatives, might do enough to make us SLIGHTLY better at the back, keep it up & the long throw is a threat, Nelson’s header on last night when nobody gambled was a chance, the Robins were shocking though, so little quality in this division.

I like him.

I know hes abit dozy and fecks up BUT hes one of our own.

We should show him abit more love and encouragement just like you would one of your kids.

Where as that cvnt Winks....

Think Rowett and Davidson are helping him no end. His long throws were actually effective and dangerous last night too.

He was fantastic last night. Think he has been to blame for a few fvck ups this season but a lot of the time his winger wasn't helping him. Whereas Mavididi last night put a shift in as well which takes a bit of pressure off of Luke - tracking one man rather than two. Rowett and Davidson definitely helping bring the best out of him though - Skipp MOTM but Luke a close 2nd for me.

Just needs consistency and confidence and he's solid at championship level.

Yep, and needs a big close season in terms of getting his fitness levels up and ensuring he is physically up to it. I’m thinking like Chilwell do that summer when he came back from looking like a little boy scared to take a throw in away at Millwall to the player Chelsea paid £50mill for.

God people get blinded by 3 points don’t they

he was not ‘very good ‘ not even close to very good - he is still brain dead and made exactly the same challenge second half that led to Southampton's goal

he was ok and ok for him is a million times better than normal but don’t confuse ok with very good ffs - I’m basing my judgement on my daughters under 13 team and that performance might have been very good playing for them - in the championship against other left backs it was acceptable but he is still a complete bomb scare - the fact we have another absolutely horrific full back in choduray to compare last night against means he just about wins the least garbage full back award from last night

do not kid yourself for one second - he is still 100% absolutely completely and utterly garbage and if you all of a sudden think differently then your an ostrich

Last night he was actually everything you’d want in the situation we’re in.

Aggresive, productive, energetic.  Supported Mavididi well and defended very well.

Yes he’s been a real liability but the last couple of games he’s looked very good.  If he keeps that form up for the rest of the season there may be hope for him yet.

A redemption arc I didn’t see coming.

Do you look at everything in life negatively? One of these people that suck the life out of you with constant negativity lol

I think what people are saying is that he does have these performances in his locker, it's just nowhere near consistent enough - and yes he will have the odd mistake, and still made them yesterday - along with plenty of other players in the team! This is a collective that are devoid of confidence and have had a terrible season on the whole bar JJ.

If he was a defender that didn't make mistakes he would be playing in the premier league - that's the difference, elite full backs look half decent even when they are having a stinker.

I think it's as simple as him being garbage most of the season and last night he was actually very good, minus one push/foul.

This bunch of charlatans have sucked the life out of everyone

your negativity is my realism

he doesn’t just make mistakes - he is a terrible defender and overall footballer

Playing in the premier league - don’t make me laugh

if your eyes over the whole career of Luke Thomas are telling you he is up to playing full back at this level then we differ wildly in opinion - but that’s ok - each to their own

He wasn’t very good - he did ok - which for his standards might be very good but not for a top level pro footballer  - sorry not having it but that’s only my opinion and yours and they are allowed to be different

After this I expect to see you being positive about Nelsons good performance and ignoring the one negative bit of his performance ;)

Change your name to Ben Nelsons dad Tommy lol

I didn't say he could play in the Premier League you nitwit (fawlty) I meant players in general who are at elite level rarely make mistakes, so if he (or others) didn't make mistakes constantly they would be at a level above of where they are.

For me the big difference is he's now allowed to support attacks by getting forward like he used to under Rodgers like in the FA Cup win.

This takes the focus off his defensive work which he's now having to do less of as we're not spending most of the game passing the ball around at the back and then losing it before we manage to get forward with it.

He's a better player as a semi-wing back. It also helps that Mav sems to have been told to help out the defence more and last night was the most effort I've seen him put in.

A couple of average at best performances and people are getting called out for being 'overly negative' if they dare be critical! lol

Most accepting fan base in the country, surely!
