4 more years; I’m not sure I can stomach it

Anyone who defends this guy needs to give their head a wobble. Watch his “defending” for their goal….

I don’t want to see him playing again unless we have a lot of injuries

We litteraly have one other player to put there, and he's completely cooked. We are going to have to make do right now.

I call him a coward footballer. Get the ball, play a 5 yard pass to Winks or back to Vestergard, then just stand still as if job done & I've done nothing wrong.

Never progresses the play, never overlaps (which is probably why Mavadidi & lately Monga are struggling). Basically offers nothing

Bottom half Championship player is his ceiling. Unconvinced he'd actually start for someone like Huddersfield.

The real frustrating thing is, I think he could be capable of being a more old school, overlapping full back. We have seen in spell, particularly in his early games for us, he can deliver a call in. He’s also had flashes of being able to hold his own against top players like Salah on more than one occasion.

Mentality? Instructions? Liabilities at centre back not helping?

I don’t dislike him. I do think we need to bring a new starter in January and hopefully sell VK to fund it.

But I just wonder what could have been if we had a good solid centre back partnership and Thomas had been developed to bomb on and support the winger rather than just constantly playing it back.

I’m not arguing we need to replace him, see my post. I just think if I have seen something from a player at times, why couldn’t it have been more often.

Obviously it’s not as simply as that clearly. I actually think Thomas’s limitations have come more from mentality and not developing that side.

But yeah, sometimes you just know it’s time.

Shame the Club had to let James Justin go. He took a lot of unfair flak in my opinion and, Ricardo aside, was/is head and shoulders over any of the current full back options.

the thing with Thomas hes sooooooo one footed is laughable, and hes general body movement isnt great either, at times he makes Vesty look actually nimble

for the style we play Aluko is the better option

I think the biggest problem is he's playing next to a CB who just lets players walk past him, he often gets isolated and very little support from faes and vesty.

I would argue the biggest problem is he’s a terrible terrible footballer, with no attributes other than kicks the ball with his left foot and was born in Syston. However, football is a game of opinion and you’re entitled to yours.

I don't think he's that bad, I don't think he's the greatest full back I've ever seen but I think if he had two CBs who weren't absolute dog shit next him, he'd do a enough of a job. CB and striker are more pressing positions for me

He overlapped once in the second half, but I am sure is just playing the way Marti wants, remaining in a back 3 while the other full back moves to midfield in possession. He can bomb forward when instructed to do so.

Personally I dont like this inverted fullback system as it leaves the wingers too unsupported. I prefer the system where the full backs overlap in support of the wingers, with the defensive midfielders covering breakaways.

Luke is fine at this level, and I can see why he keeps his place. The reality is that we are skint and aren't going to be spending a lot of money in January unless we shift a lot of the deadwood, so we have to play the players that we have got.

Oh come on - lets not do this to ourselves.  Justin was utter dog muck last year and became a laughing stock. He's final hurrah for us was that awful display against Preston, which happened to be out last defeat.

Since leaving he has played a total of 18 minutes for Leeds, themselves you are also dog muck.

But as we saw last season, you are completely exposed when caught out - just look at JJ last season. But its also a system where horrific demands are made of the full backs, and its surely no surprise that we had terrible injury records with them playing that system.

I see people are again are calling for VK because they would rather see him 'bombing' up and down the wing. Very little of VK's bombing lead to anything, other than being completely exposed on the counter.

I've never rated him, at all. Even after his debut at Spurs.

I think it's one of those cases in life where luck and being right place, right time can sometimes get you a long way. He was played at Spurs courtesy of the usual injury crisis we always had under Rodgers. He wasn't some great hope from the academy l, like Chilwell, Schlupp, KDH, Barnes etc. He was played out of pure necessity (or maybe even one of Rodgers' strops)

Had it not been for that crisis, the likelihood is he'd have drifted away, like so many other u/21 players who carve out some career in the lower leagues or national League.

That said, funnily enough, I think he's actually playing his best stuff for us ATM. It's just his best is not that good.
