Hamilton for me and I don’t even like F1.

It’s 2020 and people on Facebook still haven’t discovered that the “personality” bit doesn’t mean “who would you most like to go for a pint with?”

Tyson destroyed the 'biggest puncher in boxing history' with one of the best heavyweight performances you'll ever see. Plus his well documented path back to the top, plus he's absolutely utterly mental and very entertaining. But obviously Lewis broke all the records and fully deserving just a shame he has to be so dull to go with it.

He's not but what he's done off it speaks volumes. People have won it or come close to winning it for the stuff they've done off the pitch before what's the difference this time?

It will probably be Hamilton but I still struggle to understand it. Is he not in the quickest car?

He hasn't always been, but he's always won races. Plus so is Bottas and he regularly finishes behind him and a few others.

Plus its not like jumping behind the wheel of you road car and driving. Richard Hammond did a good piece on Top Gear trying to drive the previous years Renault and couldn't.

It's about time the award title was changed because people don't get it. Sports person of the year or something.

Hamilton for me, a recognition of his overall achievements as well as winning this year. Good to see Ronnie there but he did only win one tournament I think, albeit the major one, Trump way more consistent but snooker players aren't going to popular enough to win the public vote these days I wouldn't think.

Henderson is least deserving there, i can't remember the voting rules but can imagine him doing quite well if it's only public vote. Liverpool will probably win team of the year.

Can tell it's a non-olympic year or any other major sporting event for that matter.

The award is for sporting achievement by a British sportsperson.

I'm still waiting for him to tell who's won it or nearly won it for non sporting achievements.

Can only assume he's mistaken it for other awards on the same night like the one Rashford is getting.

There have been some nominations, and wins I've not agreed with. Giggs shouldn't have won in 2009, he should have got a lifetime achievement award for example.

The closest I can think of was Darren Clarke. He finished 2nd twice, once the year he won the Open and the other was the year he played well after the death of his wife, which these days would get the Helen Rollenson award. Ellen MacArthur finished 2nd twice, first for sailing round the world, no idea why she got the 2nd nomination, because she not done much else that i can remember. Other than that I think the they've always been on sporting merit.

Haven't watched SPOTY since about 1997. Not been a great watch for a long time now.

Well you wouldn't know if you haven't watched it for 23 years surely?

I should have said I haven't watched it fully. I'll watch a couple of minutes here and there but then switch over because it's a total cringefest.

What do you find cringeworthy? Seems odd.
