Ndidi  being injured for most of the season and Fofana being only 19, relatively new to the Premier league and only having operated in a 3 at the back previously (and as shown several times already - while mostly brilliant has the odd naive mistake in him) - I'm not surprised Rodgers has opted for 3 at the back - even when we've been against perceived weaker opposition. 

 

Let's not forget the person playing LB will most likely be 19 too. While I've been impressed by Mendy - since he came to be honest, not just this season - I think we'll look stronger at the back now Ndidi is starting to play again.

 

I think if Rodgers feels Ndidi is okay to start,or he's been impressed with Fofana in a back 4 in the few games he's played in that formation we might see 4 at the back - a formation I'd prefer - but without Soyuncu and with Ndidi still regaining fitness I wouldn't be surprised by 5 at the back again, and hope the FT faithful don't implode before the game starts if we do, because when you consider the above, I don't think the reason for playing 5 at the back is that hard to understand. 

 

I just can't wait until our injured players are all back fit and hope we'll be playing like so many of us think we can when that time finally comes. (Its looking like it might be soon).
