Not a chance that we have the same team as last night (other than Vardy and Kasper of course). There are just way too many matches coming up.

                         Kasper

             Fofana Evans Fuchs

       Albrighton Ndidi Tielemans Justin

                   Perez Maddison

                          Vardy

Barnes for Maddison if he isn't fit.

Yesterday was Under's first 90 minutes all season, I doubt he will be ready to start again. Expect him to come in off the bench and then I think we will go 4-2-3-1 against Everton, with a similar side to the AEK match.

Well Fuchs has been an absolute horror show the last month so I honestly don't think it would be anymore unacceptable.

Has he played at LB as part of a 4 much?

                             Ndidi

Under       Tielemans     Perez         Barnes

                             Vardy

Fuchs at LB up against Lamptey would be a massacre. Justin handled Traore really well against Wolves, think he will play on the left because of that.

Fuchs? Over the years yes.

There was an opinion a few weeks ago that Thomas wouldn't be reliable enough to play in a back 4 and needed Fuchs playing LCB in a back 3 but I'm not so sure that is completely true. Thomas looks to be developing well and although Fuchs at times is still a great squad player for us, he isn't the formidable player he once was and we have to be progressive in when he should and shouldn't play.

So if Castagne and Amartey are injured and we want to play 4 at the back, you put Justin LB and who plays RB...?

Yeah obviously I meant this season.

Think Under has to start based on last night's performance.

But the dilemma for me would be Barnes or Perez. Both have been excellent recently and warrant a start but will be difficult to accommodate everyone

Posted

Schmeichel

JJ Fofana Evans Thomas

Praet Ndidi Tielemans

Under Vardy Barnes

Go for that team to try and get early lead so there is an option to rest players.

This line up for me too! Option to bring on Madders and Perez and maybe Mendy for Ndidi in the second half. I don't think many can be dropped after that performance 😊

Hopefully...

Schmeichel

Justin - Fofana - Evans - Fuchs

Under/Albrighton - Tielemans - Mendy - Barnes

Perez

Vardy

But it will more than likely be 5 at the back and we’ll end up being bored to tears.

Thomas, Praet, Under and Barnes playing full games last night, makes me think that Brendan will probably not start them on Sunday, even though all four played well and are worthy of a place against Brighton.

Can see Mendy and Ndidi rotating over the next few weeks, don’t want to continuously play Wilf yet, Mendy starts against Brighton for me, Wilf can be saved for Everton.

With a bit of luck, Lamptey will be to busy chasing Barnes all game.

..Lamptey seems a mature player for his age!!!

We do need to try and keep him occupied as any loose play he can carry the ball all the way into our box, we can not afford to take our eyes off him.

Chelsea letting him go was the best thing for him and to decide that he would not benefit from warming a very lucrative bench, just goes to show his mentality is about football and not the money.

Thats juicy and exactly how we need to attack teams that we are better than. It’s quite simple really. No need to over complicate things.

If we play 5 at the back for this game he’s clearly lost the plot and will never learn. Theres absolutely no need for it and we will have another game of ‘let’s hope we get lucky and score first and knick it’. If Brighton score first and we are in a back 5, we might as well walk off the pitch because we won’t win.

Fuchs is a wasted player in the back 5, it doesn’t make us tougher to break down, it invites more pressure on us and it means there’s 1 less player up the pitch if and when we need to force the game from behind or drawing late on.

Yesterday was exactly why this formation gets the best out of us. Little deflections, little loose balls etc. Even both our goals, all come from the fact we have an extra attacker and occupy the opposition that just the shape in general makes it flow better.

Unless we are playing a team with exceptional attacking talent, where an extra body/hit on counter might be the best option occasionally, we should ALWAYS play 4141 with more creativity and support for our lethal striker. We are underselling the overall parts of this team by not having the confidence to really attack a majority of teams. Man for man we are better than all but 3, maybe 4 teams only so we shouldn’t be giving teams victories like we did against Fulham by bending over for them.

4141 vs Brighton and Everton, 4-6 points would be A good return. Then spurs away, that’s a game where you have to respect son/Kane and maybe a game we should set up more to nullify. Until then there’s no excuse of injuries, especially now Wilf is back.

With Tielemens Ndidi and Fofana as the spine, that’s very tough and strong especially vs a team as poor as Brighton with 1 Danny welbeck up top. We don’t need Fuchs in there getting in the way when we could use the extra man to support Vards and break down the inevitable low block Brighton would use if they score first/drawing with 30 minutes to go.

Make it easier and enjoyable for us Brendan.

Agree. It would be nice to have a positive start to the match like last night. If legs tire then change it and not wait until we concede or need a goal in the last 15 minutes. I think positive starts like last night are perfectly doable against teams in the bottom half of the table.

He got this

It’s his hair. I was wondering what was different last match. It’s much better now. And Little Wes is rid of his ridiculously died hair. Finally, after all these months of wait, a backline with respectable hair. COYB.

Is Castange back for this? Cags?

I couldn't agree more, back 5 against Man City and Liverpool, but lets play to our strengths which are attacking, playing 5 at the back hasn't made us any better at defending, in my opinion it's made us worse by inviting pressure, last night showed how to take the pressure away from the defence.

I know people will say look at the quality we played against, fair enough but is anyone confident enough to say that if we played with a back 5 last night we could have made them look like Fulham against us.

We could have played with a back 10 last night and still created far more chances. AEK were dogshite and have been all group stage.
