foxfanazer Posted 11 December 2020 Posted 11 December 2020 Would love us to go positive for this one. Doubt they'll sit back all game so there should be openings Not sure where we are with injuries but if be tempted to go the same as last night but with Vardy in for Nacho

The only thing I’d say against this, is Lamptey may have a field day against Thomas, if he’s not on his game. 3
Ric Flair Posted 11 December 2020 Posted 11 December 2020 This home game last season after lockdown was a curveball of a negative team selection from Brendan with Ndidi and Mendy playing in a double holding role, we were absolutely revolting all game. Brighton are crap, let's have it right here. They play some decent stuff at first glance but have absolutely no clue how to do well in this league, they're like Bournemouth were and they actually wind me up. Rodgers handled them excellently away from home last season where we picked apart their style of play and naivety and we need to do the same on Sunday. 4-1-4-1 please, the same team as last night but Schmeichel and Vardy in for Ward and Iheanacho. Harsh on Perez but he has a part to play in this, can get him on in a two up front if needs be. 1 1
Popular Post goose2010 Posted 11 December 2020 Popular Post Posted 11 December 2020 Didn't realise this (and the Everton game) were on Amazon Prime. If you haven't got Amazon Prime I would recommend setting it up for the 30 day free trail. Will get you all of the Christmas games and into the new year. 7

Actually, that will make for an interesting match up as Lamptey is only 20 himself albeit Thomas was only 19 in June.

Could play Fuchs there but think he'd have more of a torrid time than young luke
Blue and white Posted 11 December 2020 Posted 11 December 2020 I can't see anything other than going back to the formation and team that won at Sheff Utd and this is where he needs to learn, just because we won the last game doesn't mean a home game against Brighton requires the same team and formation it's the main reason why we can't seem to muster a goal at home in the league. 2

I'd like to think the vulgar performance in the 1st half vs Fulham and the praise he gave Barnes and Ünder in the 2nd half of that game + last nights impressive double act with Ndidi also looking close to full fitness that he'll stick with last nights system and the majority of its personnel. Wither way it's returning sooner rather than later.
Popular Post lgfualol Posted 11 December 2020 Popular Post Posted 11 December 2020 As long as Ünder and Barnes start and we don't play that shite 5 at the back, I'm happy. 13
shailen Posted 11 December 2020 Posted 11 December 2020 They've got a couple of decent players but they're an average PL team at best. Having said that so are Fulham and they got one over on us. We need to take the game to them and press all over the pitch. They want to play the possession game, but I don't think they're capable of doing it successfully at this level.
Sol thewall Bamba Posted 11 December 2020 Posted 11 December 2020 4 at the back with Barnes and Under up top somewhere. Other than that whatever.
winteriscoming Posted 11 December 2020 Posted 11 December 2020 Guarantee Rodgers will over think this and go back to playing 5 in defence. He should stick to the same formation as against aek. Having a front 3 of under, barnes and vardy looks impressive.

I imagine if we do 4 at the back and Thomas is exposed vs Lamptey people also reserve the right to blame Rodgers too haha
RowlattsFox Posted 11 December 2020 Posted 11 December 2020 I don't have any confidence Barnes and Under will play, especially after playing 90 minutes last night. I think the question of whether of we play a back 4 or 5 depends on whether Rodgers backs Thomas in a back 4, he did well last night but was barely tested, he will have Lamptey to deal with who is probably Brighton's biggest threat. I wouldn't be surprised with a back 5. If Madders is out at least we can hopefully still have the front 3 of Barnes, Vardy and Under. 1

RowlattsFox Posted 11 December 2020 Posted 11 December 2020 I'd be more comfortable with the back 3/5 if we had Ricardo/Castagne to play right wing back. Justin could play as LCB behind Thomas as wing back. Offer a bit of pace support.

Yeah this is how I feel on it. Would be a good learning curve for Thomas at the very least. Plus if we play Barnes we could pin Lamptey back somewhat 1
BraunstoneFox23 Posted 11 December 2020 Posted 11 December 2020 Do we know if Ricardo will play any part yet?

He has stepped up to every challenge so far and will only learn (hopefully quickly) when faced with new and difficult experiences.
AKCJ Posted 11 December 2020 Posted 11 December 2020 (edited) Not sure if it's best to go and start Ndidi in this one or to let him start the Everton game. Ndidi covers the fullbacks so much better than Mendy or Tielemans so i'm much happier to see Thomas or Justin start in a 4 at the back formation with him in midfield. If Ndidi isn't playing then I would sooner play with Justin as one of the centre halves and Albrighton at RWB. Hopefully we can play something like this; Kasper Justin Fofana Evans Thomas Ndidi Under Youri Maddison Barnes Vardy Trouble is if we line up this way we should be brave enough to have Youri playing as an out and out 8 as opposed to putting him alongside Ndidi. Hopefully we can get Castagne and Ricardo on the bench to give them half an hour each as well. If there is no Ndidi or Maddison then; Kasper Justin Evans Fofana Albrighton Mendy Tielemans Thomas Under Vardy Barnes Edited 11 December 2020 by AKCJ 2
Popular Post StriderHiryu Posted 11 December 2020 Popular Post Posted 11 December 2020 We have 3 games in 7 days starting with this one; Brighton, Everton, Spurs. I'd love for us to start 4141 with Ndidi and Under starting, but now the games come so rapidly we are going to have to utilise the squad a lot. For me I would like us to set the tempo in the homes games, and play the 3421 away to Spurs, taking the bore draw if it happens. Ndidi hasn't played a full 90 yet so we have to be careful with him too. So maybe give him 60-70 against Brighton and Everton and play Mendy from the start against Spurs. We'll have to see what happens. It's a testing period for all teams and it's more about results than performances during this period. It's great Ndidi is starting to feature again but we are still missing Soyuncu, Ricardo and Castagne who would make a big difference to the team. I'll happily take grinding out some results to maintain a good league position waiting for our key players to return. 6
