Such ashame this area has been left to look like Beirut!! I’m not entirely sure why Kingpower don’t buy it back and build accommodation. They’d make a fortune and would be great to form part of the stadium development

What about buying it back and build a stadium there for the Women’s team?

...I have suggested that before, it would be fitting and we need to have them in a location that you could easily walk up to!!!

Before 1937, that was when the D was added to the edge of the penalty area.

Someone on Facebook said he thinks that's how the main stand looked like before the war. That means it's between 1921 and 1927, when the double decker was built.

This picture of Leicester's central station was taken in 1926, according to the Mercury. Good chance the Filbert St photo was taken around the same time.

Left hand corner extension between the main stand and kop was built in 1925 following promotion to the 1st division. It's either 1925 or 1926 for certain.

Oh, then it could be early 1927. Presumably work started in the summer of that year.

The main stand was opened 6 years previous to the double decker so 1921.

So this picture is likely between 1922 and 1926.

The roof over the kop end was moved to the Filbert st end when the double decker was built

I wish we were still there.

Every time I see a picture of it or go past where it was it makes me sad.
