If you're spending thousands on sh*te clothing regardless of whether you can afford it, you're flashy. If you listen to music that champions disrespecting women and violence, you're a tool. It has nothing to do with taste. I don't like heavy metal or classical music, but you won't catch me slagging that off. Don’t know why I’m laughing so much at Drake championing violence 3

Music with violent themes doesn't make people violent, but people that are violently inclined are more likely to listen to it. So its increasing prominence is concerning nonetheless. What are you on about? What a weird bit of generalisation. You could probably go through some of the worst violent offenders ever and you'd come across a huge mix of taste. A kinfe is a weapon and music is something you listen to on the radio at work. The false equivalence here is at the very least disingenuous. Video games and music are both forms of entertainment so much more comparable. While the second paragraph is almost certainly true it is not in my opnion true enough to be making judgement calls on people's character anyway since we don't have any verifiable data to go off and looking at the views on these far too many are watching at this point for a significant portion of them to be violent soley due to the music. And considering we've already disproved the link between entertainment with violent themes and actual violence in one area of entertainment. I think my opinion is much more likely to come out to be true. I think where you are extremely correct though is children getting a hold of this media and deciding to become violent. That problem like we ultimately saw with the failed porn ban something that can only really solved with a parental intervention of somesort. If they were consuming this media since childhood during their development I would agree that would have been a contributing factor. Another thing why do people have a specific hate for heavy metal doing this when some grime but mostly drill literally promotes themes that are sexist, bragging about actual murders and promoting gang warfare yet that makes national radio regularly? Not that I hate either but there is a double standard. I think lyrics in music is all overblown anyway. We know games where you literally pretend to murder people don't make adults violent so I don't see why hearing someone say that not but them actually acting it out would somehow be different. No not all of it doesn't of course not but I have heard questionable (at the very least) lyrics on the radio at work. What is it with the such and black and white attitude on here. Problems are always more nuanced then: YOUR SAYING EVERYTHING IS LIKE THIS REEEEEEEEEE!!!!!! Go on GRM daily or pressplay media's youtube channels. The most popular songs are mostly braging about violence and gangs are usually behind the music. The views fund their pockets most of the time. Gangs like 3x3, OFB, N9 and OTP use these to fund gang activity. Edited 31 January 2022 by Fightforever 1

He said this so he must mean this is classic black and white thinking. And this was from a post that defended violent themes in music. Talk about shooting your own foot.

Nah not all grime thats stupid. On the level of Islam promotes terrorism levels of stupidity. Although there is a minority that needs to stop getting on the radio if they want push a consistent image of not pushing upsetting themes on national media.

Fair enough, I agree there will be a number of performers or songs that do promote such themes. You'll find it across most genres in some aspect.
