That's not really what you said in that first line though, and any genre of music can contain lyrics on those two subjects.

There's a lot of hip-hop/rap music with deeper meaning or positive lyrics, and someone else's tattoos/clothes have very little to do with what type of person they are.

Very true, I'm a big fan of Dave the UK rapper and there's plenty of lyrics to the extent of "i dropped x amount on this" or "I had all these girls then never bothered to call them again", but 2 songs of his in particular couldn't be much further from that in Lesley and How I met my Ex, so to brush an entire genre with being a weapon is crazy

Exactly, Dave's brilliant. In the US also, there have been people like Juice WRLD and XXXTentacion too who have done loads through their music to help people speak out about their own personal issues.

Again fans of both, UK based ghetts too with his track Sonya, ridiculous to claim anyone who may have listened to drake is a weapon 😂 I'll throw aside my 5 year degree and 7 years working with children with learning difficulties because of that playlist

You can see why anyone would say the music a person likes might influence them. Rap etc is full of what i call me me me lyrics. Look what I've got and who i can get with and I'm better than you etc. Does this mean you do what Greenwood does? No it don't. If it did my love of 90s rave music, hard house and all forms of trance, Guns n roses and Metallica would suggest i do lots of drugs, I'm drunk all the time and have a obsession with the dead. But at the same time I'm a loving, caring and  mellow guy from seeing PLUR alot. There is good and bad in everyone, I'm not perfect either! I have a hatred for Forest and most of the London clubs esp West ham :P

I'm obviously exaggerating for effect. Not every person who ticks those boxes is an awful person.

I'm just saying there's an increased chance. Impossible to have the data on that of course, but I'd put my mortgage on there being a positive correlation between people ticking those boxes and also being a despicable human being.

Good post.

It's also not always about influence, either. It's association.

As humans we communicate who we are through the clothes we wear and the music we associate with.

Too many people it appears want to make it very clear that they're a 'bad man'.

I lived on Deansgate in Manchester for 4.5 years until the summer just gone, and the volume of boy racers revving their engines with awful exhausts breaking the sound barrier seemed to increase tenfold over that period.

Modern artiste names lol

I mean, I know that search algorithms make it harder for them nowadays, but blimey...

My favourite new artistes are definitely  "Vehicular Gruntbungle", "$hitevoxx" and "Beep752"

No doubt a very good and worthwhile tome but unfortunately the kind of creature that thinks it's ok to do these horrible things wouldn't read this or any other book and wouldn't listen to anyone who had, power and control are drugs and they (the perpetrators) get progressively worse as their victims are more and more dehumanised. And lets not forget the heartbreaking murder of little Star before we think this is exclusive to men.

I really despair of the human race more than sometimes.

you are right, the worst wont read...but its a great warning to those of us who are horrified by domestic abuse...it teaches the readers what to look for, what listen for..how to help.

All I can say is that the ridiculous 'on a bender' song some of our lot sing fits rather nicely for Mr. Greenwood's name. If you're gonna sing it, sing it about him or Mr. Everton Man rather than throwing around libellous and/or homophobic BS about folks like Klopp and Elton John.

I can't get my head around people that want to sing shit like this and not sing about the team, and the players, they're supporting.

Really hope this Greenwood case can be the end of the "we're on a bender *player name* is a sex offender" chants across the country.

Deffo going to work the other way around. The next away fans at Old Trafford will be all over it.

Mason Greenwood another person who had everything who just could have threw it all away.

The recording going around… if it’s him, then wow, just wow.

Sorry to change subjects momentarily but anyone else a tad sad we aren’t getting anyone in during this transfer window. I know the reasons why of course but it seems like the first transfer window we are not involved in. Makes me feel a little envious of other clubs signing exciting new players.

Deadline day and we're discussing rapists and rap.

I long for the days of a dildo getting wafted in Harry's face as he tries to sign a player through a car window at 11pm.

Wait, rapists isn't the collective noun for people that like rap?

Arsenal players have had warm weather training in Dubai....

Are the Leicester doing something like this?

Yes.

Here's a picture of Dubai specialists opening up the training area.

Yeah I was thinking the same.

The video of those MK gimps singing it to Akinfenwa really showed how embarrassing it is. Us doing it to Zaha and Klopp weren't far off that tbf and every generic away end at Old Trafford are just as bad. Wolves fans stayed behind after a late KO to sing that and siu in the stands.

The research has already been done on this if playing violent video games doesn't make kids violent I don't see how music is any different.

https://www.theguardian.com/games/2020/jul/22/playing-video-games-doesnt-lead-to-violent-behaviour-study-shows

Missing the point. Knives don't make people violent, but violent people carry them.

Music with violent themes doesn't make people violent, but people that are violently inclined are more likely to listen to it.

So its increasing prominence is concerning nonetheless.
