I just can't believe anyone has looked at Choudhary and gone "you deserve 3 million pounds of year for the standard of player you are". There's better players in league one earning about a 20th of what he's on lol

It just shows how broken football is when wages are nuts for unproven players

Perhaps not, but given he had established himself in the first team by the end of 2018-19, he really ought to have been commanding at least £50kpw I would expect. And likewise for Barnes, when he signed his last one. Nobody would have anticipated that their trajectories have been in rather opposite directions since, I suppose.

No? I must be an upper echelon scout in that case lol

I'm wasted in my current career

Barnes looked well out of his depth returning from loan, and Choudhury had already had a big part to play in big games in 18-19. If anything you'd have expected it to be the other way around

Albrighton on 70k a week and I saw him buying a 'Sainsbury's basics' Wok the other week in Tamworth!

The bloke is obviously planning for retirement!

Just because you are rich doesn't mean you have rich tastes. Bielsa lives in a granny flat and Kante drives a Mini.

😂. There is word that he'll be offered a new 2 year extension I.e. one of the regular senior old heads. I can only imagine he'll be able to add a few pot noodles in his basket with that cash uplift.

I dunno a Sainsbury basic wok will last about 3 weeks! should have at least got a Tefal.

Rodgers is on around £5m-£6m.

He is on £10m a year (~£200k a week), he was on £5m when he first joined but doubled his wages when he signed that new deal in 2019 when Arsenal were sniffing around

Definitely not me, having watched them both play out on loan, to me Barnes looked streets ahead of Hamza as a footballer.

Here is what we have at the moment for the 25 first team players at the club, anyway:

£80kpw - Perez
£75kpw - Praet
£60kpw - Choudhury
£55kpw - Amartey
£35kpw - Ward

Probably five of the top six on the FT "sell" list?  Looking at that, more likely they are with us until the end of their contracts.  Unlikely to find takers at those wages.

Youri massively underpaid if true

if he's really earning that now (i thought was around 80k), how big an increase can we afford on a new deal ??   unless its significant, there is no incentive for him to sign one.

Didn't know about the latter, thanks.

Ironically, went past his house on the way out of Loughborough earlier; very smart.

He doesn't live in Leicestershire anymore he sold up and moved to Nottinghamshire when they built the training ground so he's just down the 46 from it but towards West Bridgeford I believe. He had a dispute with Charnwood Borough Council over the installation of gates on his previous place.

I know; he lives just outside Loughborough in a quaint village.
