Rumours on social media that the deal is over due to relegation. Any ITKs able to confirm?

Amazes me this deal. I wonder how many football fans decide to give FBS a go after seeing Leicester play? Take up has to be minuscule and I can’t imagine would be any different with us in the championship.

Honestly other than the ones I’m already aware of, I’ve never looked at a shirt sponsor and thought “oh they sponsor my club let me look into them and return the favour”.

I’m just interested in how much they’re giving us and if it looks nice on the shirt lol

The thing is sponsors wouldn't pay the money to be on the shirts if it wasn't worthwhile. Companies don't sponsor clubs with that clubs fans in mind, it's the global audience it reaches.

Well, im presuming FBS hadn't found it worthwhile hence finding the excuse to get out, although reach is clearly impacted by the drop.  I kind of get sponsors looking to increase brand awareness by getting on a PL shirt, so brands like Cazoo, Amex, Three and Cinch etc make sense to me. But after 2 years, i still have no idea wtf an FBS is and i bet the vast majority who watch us think the same. And their pre roll music on the LCFC TV website if bloody annoying.

I wont go into details but from articles that have been out there the whole arrangement goes in the 'intriguing' category...

I think this for most sponsorship deals and advertising in general. Unless it something you want or need you don’t notice it

I don’t think that’s the main purpose of many sponsorship deals anymore. It seems like most sponsorships give companies/businesses some form of legitimacy (possibly the wrong word to use) within their areas of operation. It gives them a greater standing within industry, enabling them to conduct business in arenas they may not have previously been considered etc.

I probably haven’t articulated that very well, as it’s way out of my professional capacity. The point I’m making is, sponsorship at PL level isn’t solely about selling a product or service to a consumer on the high street anymore.

Spot on. FBS weren't really interested in picking up average users from this shirt deal. It was much more about legitimising themselves as a big and respected company amongst their peers and investors. Sponsoring a Premier League team gets you that.

You articulated it perfectly. FBS probably only needs a few hundred very wealthy clients to make excellent money, and being a business that is likely a bit 'creative' with the tax it pays (i cant really tell where the business is based, and see addresses in Belize, Columbia and Cyprus)  a top tier PL shirt sponsor can help gloss over a lot of issues.

For what it’s worth (on a slight tangent), getting back to the Premier League could be KPs trump card with regards keeping their Duty Free monopoly.

Having such a strong link to a successful club in the most watched league in the world keeps Thailand firmly in the eyes of the whole world and in a positive light too.

King Power and Kuhn Top are seen in such high regard for the work they do in the community and in general, building a football club that nobody really dislikes (everyone loved us after 15/16). Regardless of what any new potential Thai rulers think, surely they’ll be looking to feather their own nest. KP help them with that.

It wouldn’t surprise me if KP see how the first 10 games pan out and have a look at whether they want to take the shirt sponsorship.

I remember looking into them when they first signed and found similar oddities! Nothing compared to what the Saudis are up to mind

No chance this sponsorship was ever completely clean. You only have to look at the FBS website and how basic it is to know that they were never likely to have been operating at a level that justified a Premier League sponsorship.

The whole league is littered with back-handers and shady deals thanks to FFP.
