Yes absolutely brilliant to win the fa cup. But I’m still pissed off to spend the majority of 2 seasons in the top 4 and miss out both times.
I know I’ll be crucified on here but that’s how I feel.

You shouldn’t be crucified. Football runs deep and today hurt.

Well done lads, proud and gutted at the same time and players I expect will all feel the same. When the dissapointment subsides an FA cup victory will shine through and for me personaly is huge after being a fan since the 80s. 5th.. dissapointing but a great season, this with having the first half of the season with an injury list and the back end with key players picking up knocks and running out of steam they have a done a great job to deliver this.

Many clubs who will be hurting more.. Spurs gave everything today to finish above Arsenal.. nothing more and face losing Kane and Bale.. Son vulnerable, its can only be a disaster for them and they are not alone...Juve in Europa from the start etc. Us by contrast.. tight squad, good manager, strong investment.. I've every faith the squad will be pushing top 6 spots next season.

Heads held high boys.

I suggest people to have a media blackout in the next few days or 7 days. We will get slaughtered by radio presenters and pundits and the general football public, and called names such as chokers and bottlers and failures.  It will wind you up so take a week off, then come back. We were given a lifeline but still there it away. Enjoy the summer and we go again next season.

Agreed but the "Do they mean us?" thread will be full of pundits or obscure club forums laughing and us getting all offended because the whole world doesn't think we're wonderful.

I'm sure it's a thing that the better you are the worse the criticism and anger. Also shows how most of your supporting life is actually unenjoyable.

**** off, everybody is hurt. Nobody would make anyone feel bad about feeling disappointed. But if you're channeling that into anger at the manager or players who've delivered the FA Cup and a 5th place finish in spite of a string of injuries to crucial players in key moments then you're being an absolute twat and need to be told that.

Best post of the day.

Glad the season has finished I need a break

I imagine we all do!

The players certainly will. Not that most of ‘em will get one.

Overall the club is making great advances on and off the pitch, I still think there's more to come from us in the coming years. Disappointing day but as a club we continue to improve.

This thread is more like it.

Superb season and I really hope some of the negative posters here gain some perspective and appreciate that.

5th place and a Europa Spot; but far more importantly - the FA CUP. A trophy which had eluded us for so long.

I'll be forever grateful to the owners, the players and the manager for delivering us that day and that trophy and those memories.

I'm not sure we'll be talking about this 4-2 defeat in 20 years.. but as a clue, if you are, you're doing it wrong.

Cup semi's and finals are realistically something we should get used to over the next decade. When you're one of the best 6/7 teams in the country, as long as you don't get an unlucky draw then you're going to be favourites in most games.

I really hope so, mate.

Now that the FA cup final hoodoo is broken; maybe we can add one or two more in times to come.

Of course it’s a good season when compared to the bigger picture of Leicester City’s history.

But the problem is that if you want to revel in this comparative success then perversely you have to be disappointed in missing top four.

Because for Leicester City to have their second best ever season and win an FA Cup for the first time you need a Youri Tielemans, a Wilfred Ndidi, a Brendan Rodgers. But if you don’t get to that next level of Champions League then you likely a) lose those things that got you here and b) struggle to strengthen significantly.

That’s why the “happy to be here” and “remember where we used to be” types frustrate me. Your inability to reset your hopes and expectations (which by the way are significantly out of sync with the players and management of this club) will see us back at that level you love to compare us against today quicker than wanting the club to never return there.

What we want is a lasting transformation. To transform you require a culture change. The culture in our fan base will significantly hamper or delay that transformation.

Mark’s deleting posts again, instead of celebrating our second best ever season he sits on here deleting my posts, a little peculiar 🤔

Are you playing in a back 5, called Dennis whilst wearing white shorts? If so, you get what you deserved :)

Great post. Completely this. Of course people can be annoyed. I’m annoyed. Fvcking really annoyed. But those who can’t see the difference between being annoyed and actually insulting players/manager I just don’t understand. If I’m passionless because I don’t call all the players cowards or dicks and call for Brendan’s head then fair enough but fvck me. X

One of my mates asked me on WhatsApp at full time if I was at the game today. Replied I was. He said he wanted to see me 'WhatsApp Live crying my eyes out'. I said why?

The response being because we've missed out on CL.

I had to explain to him for a club like us, we've won the FA Cup and still qualified for Europe. And if you'd given me that before the start of the season I'd have taken it.

To me, with the circumstance of injury and several clusters of fixtures we've had to contend with, we've actually done phenomenally well. One of his other responses were 'you're not 'little Leicester' anymore'. While that may be true, we're still nowhere near the likes of 'top 6' in terms of spending and reputation, so for us to succeed how we have in the comparison to every other season in the history of the club (barring 2015/16), this can't be seen as a failure. We've not reached that level of entitlement or arrogance. And I hope we never do.

As a group of fans, I think we need to enjoy and embrace some more where we are, whilst also realising where we want to be. Yes the loss of CL football is frustrating, if you can call it a 'loss'. But we've still qualified for Europe. For the 2nd season in a row.

And of course silverware to also remember this season by. A trophy we've never won before in our history. Let's make that count for something and not let that slip by because we didn't finish top 4 :).

Onwards and upwards. We are improving. We are progressing. A lot of clubs would kill to be where we are right now.

Still no-one’s pulled up the ‘will we finish in the top four’ thread, which is interesting

And did this really happen?

I was just saying this to my wife. This season I’ve got really engrossed back into the game. It’s crazy, I’d spend the week on here/footie website then spend match day hiding behind a pillow. It’s been intense for what feels like an eternity. I feel I need the break lol
