For all the flat feelings on the forum at the moment, I want to post something that might be a bit more cheery (or not depending on your outlook).

During the game yesterday I was bombarded with messages from friends who support other clubs urging us to win and get top 4. Combined with following - the great underdog story of the title season; our Champions League campaign; how we are flying in the face of the rich 6 Super League clubs (I refuse to call them big 6) by going about things in a more sustainable / different way; owners who are revered; the way Kasper and others have spoken favorably about the culture at the club - are we becoming quite a fashionable and well liked club within the wider football community?

I think we represent something refreshing, and for that I think we are becoming a bit of a ‘people’s club’?

It will always be our club first and foremost, being passed down from generation to generation. It will be fascinating to see whether we attract new fans mainly through the values at the centre of the club. Some may not want this type of fan though (plastics etc…). I for one am immensely proud of who we are and what we are about, and really quite enjoy the high regard a lot of other football fans have for us.

This is true and you sum it up well but as seems normal in life today we've also attracted a lot more haters likely jealous of our club and our success. Sadly fame of any sort brings forward lovers and haters hopefully we've gained more friends than enemies who we have to ignore and starve them of the oxygen of attention they need by not succumbing to their envious baiting.

I live and work in Nottinghamshire, and there are so many folk here who have nothing but respect and praise for us!

We have gained a lot of respect amongst the football family - and this will pay dividends when, especially younger, players are thinking about their choice of club in the Premier League. If it's a toss up between Leicester, Everton and Southampton, where would you go!

Ah yes - the haters. Well said :) I suppose with all things in life, there are outliers!

Come the end of the season it may well be that only 2 of the top 5 clubs in the EPL have won anything this season and we will be one of them.

I know a lot of people were rooting for us in the FA Cup and that’s great, but fashions change.

I think this is spot on. There are a certain subset of people who seem to get an inordinate amount of pleasure, when things don't go well for us (e.g. 'bottling' top 4 again).

Although tbf I suspect this is mainly overseas big 6 supporters on Twitter etc.  I think genuine supporters have a great deal of admiration for us and cheer us on when we give the big boys a bloody nose. We'll that's from my own experience with people I know who support Bristol City, Norwich etc.

When we won the league and a little bit again when we won the FA cup, we stuck up two fingers at the so called footballing institutions in this country, who feel that they're the only ones who should be winning these trophies.

We've allowed the so called unfashionable clubs the ability to dream of breaking the monopoly of the so called big 6 and be up there with them. That's why we're a lot of people's second club as we're proof that money doesn't necessarily buy success.

Depends I guess. Some people have a problem with us. A Sheffield Utd fan at work told me last week how lucky we were to win the FA Cup and he wanted Chelsea/Liverpool to finish top 4 instead of us. But some of them lot seem to have a problem with us since 2002 when we went up and they didn't :)

I think fans of football league clubs might look at us as a model club, so to speak. But people have always preferred an underdog as do I. I'm not bothered if the likes of West Ham are having a good season, as long as we are, because it's good to see clubs have a go at trying to "break" the top clubs. Leeds might give it a go next season with the right recruitment provided Bielsa stays.

I can't say much about the UK as I've been living in France these past 15 years, but over here I have definately noticed a change.  Gone are the days of the tumbleweed and wind blowing and the terrible mis pronounciation Liester and the reply of "I like Arsenal".  Ever since the league win and these last few seasons with Rodgers, I get nothing but positive feedback.  If we add a couple more Frenchies Soumaré & Edouard then it will increase interest over here.  Naturally the Prem league shown on French TV focuses on there own players like Fofana et al.

The way we do things off the pitch lends itself to good popularity amongst the game. So many instances where we've gone against the grain and done things for the good of the fans helps - the best example being the only ones to reject the PPV scheme earlier in the season.

Success and being competitive up against and displacing/disrupting 'the top six' on the pitch accentuates the off field reputation.

I was in San Francisco after we won the league, and I wore my shirt. The amount of nods and “oh my god, Leshter City - amazing man!” was staggering. Global big dogs, or rather foxes.
