Olly Lancashire is a 32-year-old signed by a Premier League club to play for the Under-23s – but why?

Really interesting article here on clubs signing an older 'Support player' to play in the U23s alongside the youth to help guide their professional and personal development. Sounds a bit like what Dean Hammond did here for a little bit.

If we could bring back one former (but still active) player, who would you like it to be? Fuchs would have been perfect, I think.

Got to be Andy King

We tried to sign a player called Elliot Thorpe, 20 years old, after his contract expired with Spurs, but we weren't willing to pay up the compo for him

Now going Luton.

Leicester City and Brentford initially expressed an interest in him but a “row” over a compensation fee that would have to be paid to Tottenham soon put paid to those hopes.

Anyone know much about Reece Evans?

Decent player I’ve heard many top Premier League teams, La Liga and Serie-A teams are said to have interest in him. Seems we have quite a few Zimbabwean heritage

There's an article written last year about him where they go very over the top it would seem in his potential but maybe its true? Another aggressive midfielder coming through though by all accounts. Sounds promising.

I’m not sure about aggressive, but I was reading that Braybrooke is a fearless deep lying midfielder. I had assumed he’d be more an attacking midfielder.

Braybrooke definitely plays the sort of deep lying playmaker role.

.. when watching him you are reminded of Tielemans!!!

Makes himself available for the ball and covers a lot of ground doing so, but he needs to demand the ball more. Being his age he may not have the confidence to demand that the play goes through him but it is a step he needs to be taking in his development.

Also impressed by the Leicester #4 who linked up well with the backline.

Leicester City 'livewire' tipped for top as summer signing emulates Kasper Schmeichel
Tawanda Maswanhise scored his second goal of the season for the Under-23s this week, while Brad Young made a couple of excellent saves at the other end of the pitch

Leicester City “have a player on their hands” in winger Tawanda Maswanhise, development squad coach Ben Petty said after the 18-year-old scored his second goal of the season.

After impressing for City in the first team’s pre-season fixtures, Maswanhise has stepped up from the Under-18s to the Under-23s, hitting the ground running.

In a draw at Blackburn, he found the top corner with a stunning strike to win the club’s in-house goal of the month competition.

Then on Monday, he bagged again, beating his man then finding the far corner to help City Under-23s get their first win of the season, a 3-1 success against Everton.

Petty is excited about his development.

“He has (got that quality), and you take it for granted now,” the coach said. “That was a fantastic second goal. He did it at Blackburn too.

“He looks a livewire. Once he gets his physicality, grows into his body, and believes in his ability a bit more, I think we’ve got a player on our hands. All the players are developing nicely.”

Petty has also been pleased with summer signing Brad Young, the goalkeeper brought in from Hartlepool, and has made comparisons between him and first-team captain Kasper Schmeichel.

“I thought he was outstanding, and he has been since he came in from Hartlepool,” Petty said. “He’s already a very popular member of the group. He’s got very high standards.

Pick the team
Pick your team for Leicester game against Burnley, then share it with others and see the most popular selection by all fans.

“You can see the goal going in hurt him. He made two massive saves at really important times, and that’s when you realise how good a goalkeeper he is, like Kasper is for our first team, they make huge saves at huge times.

“Hopefully in years to come, Brad is going to be a really good goalkeeper for the club.”

Joining the Under-23s on Monday was first-team defender Filip Benkovic, and Petty was pleased with how the Croatian helped his younger team-mates, playing in the centre of a back three.

“I thought Filip was excellent,” the coach added. “I thought he gave the back three some real solodity and calmness on the ball.”

I am wondering if we have had a Covid outbreak or something - the bench is looking pretty empty! It's being streamed on Youtube apparently:

Oh here it is!

Brighton worth their lead IMO. Their midfield showing better movement and control. Our blondie (Braybrooke?) is working hard, covering the ground but his passing can be a bit wayward sometimes.
