Will Alves is the  future Mahrez replacement we've looking for all these years. That lad can play !

Don’t disagree from clips I’ve seen he has huge potential. Trusting us to bring him through and play first team games I doubt.

City Climb U18 PL Standings With Saints Triumph

Leicester City's youngsters climbed to fifth in the U18 Premier League South standings with a 3-0 victory at Southampton on Saturday.

Fresh from the hugely impressive 1-0 success over Chelsea at LCFC Training Ground last weekend, the young Foxes headed to the Saints' Staplewood Training Ground over the weekend looking to continue their encouraging start to the 2021/22 Under-18s campaign.

City's youngsters have also beaten Brighton & Hove Albion and Reading this term - and it took them just 21 minutes to break the deadlock on the south coast in their latest outing. It came about as defender Ben Grist assisted creative forward Kian Pennant to open the scoring.

A brace from Chris Popov either side of the interval, both laid up up by Jamari Lindsay, put the match firmly in Leicester's hands and they were able to see it out and return to the East Midlands with a fourth victory in six matches during the opening weeks of the new season.

It means City are just three points off Fulham at the summit ahead of entertaining Newcastle United in Seagrave on Friday in the Premier League Cup (4:30pm kick-off). In the league, on the other hand, Arsenal are next up at home on Saturday 23 October (12pm kick-off).

City: Doherty; Godsmark-Ford (c), Lindsay, Grist, Wilson-Brown; Kutshienza, Popov, Cartwright (Lewis 79'), Cover; Alves (Dawkins (62'), K. Pennant.

Subs not used: Addai, Read, Cook.

Goals: K. Pennant 21', Popov 43', 46'.

The highlights to this are on Southamptons website. Some very good play from Alves, Lindsay, Pennant, Cover and Popov. Looks an exciting team.

Been a while since Ben Nelson posted anything like this I think? Could be back tonight!

Someone posted that he's been training again recently, hopefully he plays. It wouldn't take that much for him to perhaps come in to the 1st team consideration given our defensive problems. Would be a baptism of fire for a raw 17 year old but I think it's something Rodgers would do if desperate.

Maybe the League Cup, at least on the bench? Of course, at this point, we might be starting both Nelsons at the PL games bookending the match!
