...perhaps a better barometer is minutes on the pitch!!!

Even then I personally prefer looking at things like xG vs G, shot accuracy, chances per goal, etc.

Neglecting stats like this is how the like of Vardy end up being criminally under rated even by our own fans.

We've created catastrophically little over the last 18 months to 2 years, quite frankly. It's a miracle Iheanacho and Daka have scored the goals they have given how poor the service has generally been for both of them.

Now one thing those stats can't show you is how a player's movement off the ball and ability to find space can facilitate the ease at which their team mates can create chances. There's no doubt that Vardy makes it easier for the team to create chances and that Iheanacho and Daka could both do with improving their movement and anticipation off the ball.

But that said, Vardy is a generational talent when it comes to this area of his game and even Erling Haaland has cited him as an inspiration. It really shouldn't take a genuinely world class forward for us to be able to create chances. Our build up in the final third has been appalling for far too long and are strikers have all suffered for it.

It's obviously impossible to really know for sure without being on the training ground but, from the outside looking in, what's appeared to be the case the whole time of Rodgers tenure is that he's a good coach in the literal sense. He can direct a player, offer them a pathway to improve, the club has good analytics and he seems to know how to use them.

Unfortunately that's only part of man management. Getting the best out of your players also involves a human touch, to be able to inspire confidence and motivate. This is where Rodgers looks like he lacks, sadly to such an extent that is crippling.

The players that have gone backwards or dropped off form consistently under Rodgers look deflated, low in belief, demotivated and just generally down. I don't watch Daka play and think "wow, the manager has really taken his technical skills backwards compared to his time at Salzbug" I watch Daka play now and think "christ this kid lacks confidence."

He's gone from the guy that scored four goals from four successive one on one's in one game, away, in Europe, in Russia, in one of his first games - to the guy who tries to pass the buck to a marked Harvey Barnes despite being in on goal on his stronger foot with half the net to aim at.

It's regression sure but he's not had the ability to shoot coached out of him by some clueless boob, Rodgers isn't there with him every day in training going "I've got this new technique for you, Patson, here I want you to welly it full force with your toes, it worked for me on the playground in my Clarkes moccasins it'll work for you."

But what he has done is drop him out the team and sub him off every two minutes, the same as Iheanacho, when he doesn't miraculously single handedly win games without any service what so ever because Rodgers has set us up to create less chances per 90 than any other team in the league and not a single player out there looks like they really believe in themselves.

Strikers lacking confidence don't score, not now, not ever. Never have. Even Vardy needs good man management from time to time, Pearson put an arm round him, brought up back from the brink and turned him from a quitter that wanted to run back to semi pro to being one of the best 9s in the Premier League era. Can you really imagine Rodgers having that sort of personal touch?

I can't disagree with any of that tbf, makes sense.

It's hard because nobody see's what's going on, it's all guessing from both sides. We only see the output of the players and I agree it looks like they lack confidence and players don't seem to want the ball.

To me Rodgers comes across as a different type of manager to Pearson in terms of around around a player, but we have seen him with an arm around Chilwell dragging him round the ground when fans were on the players back. I believe he does it and it's been evident enough when we have been successful. The issue is we aren't good at the mintute, Rodgers and the players aren't performing, we see a different side perhaps.

Who knows.

And then you get these imbeciles who were probably the same idiots booing Maddison and Iheanacho and every other player who's ever dared go through a spell of bad form.

I don't boo the team under any circumstances thanks

But I am a realist, and Patson Daka is never going to score 20 goals a season

He needs to do more.  Very average at everything and not even that fast.  Would have loved him to come good but hasn't picked up his game in 18 months he has been here.

I suppose he may get better with time but how long do you give a £20m signing before writing him off as crap?  Needs to try harder and be better.

A great striker can adapt and at least look like he could go on a run of scoring 5-6 games in a row.  I have not seen that from him.

He’s really not the heir to Vardy is he?

It’s not just us that play 1 up top….bringing in a genuine threat and striker who can hold the ball up/run the line is needed in the summer if not this January.

Any ideas from the lads on here who know their European football?

Getting a bit Demarai Gray for me now. We need to be patient, he needs time, he’s got potential, blah blah blah.

Flog him to Jesse Marsch in the summer and sign a new striker.

Wait until he gets a fair run in a decent side...at least 35mins sub( & Nacho)..

Actual 5-8 game run in the side....

Before then non of our strikers can be judged or analysed...

Want to see Daka-Nacho start against Walsall even prove they deserve 80 minutes..

I’m pretty sure that he has had quite lengthy spells in the side to be fair mate.

We ALL got very excited when he signed as he had a real buzz but I’m his time here, I’m the main he has looked well below par.

He can’t link the play up to the standard that we need and for that reason, we should look to see if his reputation would mean we could move him on for a minimal loss? 🤞🏻

Look back he's only had sporadic gametime...

When we signed Daka, he was one of the most exciting young strikers playing in Europe, as fans were so excited by this signing and most fans saw this as the natural long term successor to Jamie Vardy.

Brendan and his coaching staff have literally turned this guy into prime Christian Benteke, stifling his natural talent and playing style to play the ‘Brendan Brand’ of football, lo and behold the results, as with so many of our players, is we now have a player who is largely ineffective, low on confidence and regressing under this current regime.

Maybe he's just not very good

Was this guy really a decent player before he came here?

Either some scout was p1ssed or another player whose career is ruined by BR and inept coaching

Think he's used so badly here, a reflection on management

Absolutely. It's no coincidence that Daka looked much better when he came, to what he does now. Today he was brought on to basically defend for 10mins. What was the point, should've just brought on Cags or Ndidi.
