Truth is Daka should have kicked on by now. Vardy has been tiring for a while now.

Daka has one job to do and that is to score goals. He has to do much much better imo

sorry it’s tough love but we can’t afford for him to not be scoring every game. If he can’t handle it we look for someone who can.

To be fair on Daka   he isn't getting the service

He’s not good enough to build the side around and sacrifice other players to play to his strengths, we should be playing to the strengths of the likes of Maddison and Barnes which the current setup is doing somewhat, not Daka.

I agree with you. Maddison and Barnes are more effective and accomplished players at PL level so should be prioritised And yes, the current set-up does do that.

However, my point was in relation to Daka’s Boxing Day performance. Maddison wasn’t available leaving Daka the second most prolific goal threat behind Barnes. Plus we knew we were going to have to soak up a lot of pressure at times which would leave space for the counter and runs in behind. So in my opinion we should have adapted the set-up to that if he was the main striker. Otherwise we should have gone with Vardy.

Clearly my post was not advocating that we set up with Daka as the focal point of the team every match. He isn’t ready for that. I spent the rest of what I said explaining that he’s better off in a 2 to take the pressure off him. He needs a strike partner or a different system.
Boxing Day was a different circumstance to your average game with everyone available because our most influential player was out. I daresay until Rodgers starts Iheanacho to fill Maddison’s creative void we’ll have similar occurrences until Maddison is back.

Totally disagree. The majority of his goals have been tap ins, most of the time he plays without a brain. Plenty of times I've seen him have space to run into or time and space on the ball and he hasn't got a clue what to do. When he's through on goal and it's harder to miss than score then happy days, but a league one striker would be in the same bracket. 18 months is enough to see he's not good enough for this league. Cannot fathom why Kelechi and Vardy are picked behind him.

I don’t think you can say the majority have been tap-in’s. That’s extremely harsh.

He’s scored 3 this season - the springing of the offside trap at Brighton for 2-2, the cheeky flick vs Forest and the turn and shot at Bournemouth. Not a great return for his minutes but all certainly accomplished finishes. In my book, all of the movement and finishing ability well above League 1 level as you suggest.

Last season he demonstrated a variety of finishes too. A lot of what you’re labelling as tap-in’s I’m labelling as good reactive movement and sharp finishes (E.g. Spurs and Brighton home games last year).

His finishing ability isn’t really the concern here. It’s more how he fits into a wider team system to get the best out of him (I think that’s in a two). I’m not advocating he should be the focal point of the side but where we have key absentees from the starting XI (Maddison, Vardy, Barnes, Tielemans) - like on Boxing Day - and Rodgers chooses to start Daka then we have to find a way to create more for him. He’ll score goals if we do that.

Alas, I expect Vardy will start tonight so we’ll see something different.

Now hold on. Easy goals? Who cares? He could score 20 penalties, 20 off his arse, does it matter? Right place, same outcome, it’s all part of the position.

No not at all. Anyone can score 20 tap ins in a season, but you can't do that season in season out. A top striker will make their own chances, create chances and be intelligent. Daka strikes me as very one dimensional. Through balls spammed to him like Moscow last season or Brighton this season, and he will score a few. But seriously, look at his goals, bar the forest backheel and the Bournemouth goal, his goals are scrappy, and long term it's like Akinbiyi, he might get a few goals here and there but hasn't got the quality needed. Hope I'm wrong and he blasts a hat trick tonight, but doubt it don't you.

He is not doing that bad, he has scored more than Vardy this season despite playing less minutes. Yes, Vardy has assisted more (by 2) but I do think you do him a bit of a disservice, but guess we will see how me progresses this/next season.

Yeah that was an awful take

Take?? Hate this stupid modern term. It's called an opinion. Can you please someone tell me the brilliant goals he's scored then that wernt tap ins. I had an awful take but people comparing him to Mitrovic and Haaland isn't?? Can't believe this forum sometimes, makes no sense.

His Forest and Bournemouth goals apart, his goals were simple, Kelechi and Vardy score different types of goals, and offer more in general play.

Fair enough mate, I respect your opinion. I honestly hope he comes good, but as I say after 18 months I'd be surprised now. Just don't think he has what it takes.

I think Vardy distorts people’s expectations on what we can expect from a Premier League striker. In his prime, he could have played for any team in the world, he was that good.

We can’t expect a player of his ability to play with us for an extended period in the near future, unless Top sells us to Qatar.

What? He assisted a goal. The only one we've scored.

They've scored 2.

He's shite.

They didn't actually score two though did they, if he's shite god knows what you think of Vardys performance tonight.

They didn't score 2?

So we're winning then?

Some people who think goal contributions mean nothing if we lose. Ay perhaps Capello or Sven could get more out of Daka, we know how much you loved the glory years.
