No chance he gets in at RB. That bastille is between Trent and James, then Lamptey or AWB would jump in 3rd. LB, Shaw and Chilwell are ahead, and clearly Mitchell is highly thought of, but if JJ improves his defending he could get himself that spot.

Agreed LB is his best chance. I think he could get into a tournament squad because of his versatility.

I don't think it is paranoid to think our players don't get thought of because they don't play for fashionable clubs. But anyone here who thinks Southgate is a good England manager wants to have a word with themselves.

AWB hasn't been called up for ages and hasn't been playing regularly for Man Utd. I don't think hid spot in the pecking order is secure. Lamptey has never been called up, so wouldn't be too sure about him either. Also I don't think Southgate really likes Trent, I think he bowed to pressure last summer to call him up and was secretly happy he had to pull out. He likes Trippier though, he's up there as an option.

I'm pretty sure Southgate has said publicly that he wanted to call up JJ and was gutted when he got injured. I think Walker and Trippier are coming to the end of their time with England and Southgate will like that JJ can play 3 positions. I can see him getting called up once he's fully fit.

GS likes players that play more than 1 position and have played for the U21s.

Players that are overlooked at youth level have little no to no chance of a breakthrough with the Seniors. Reckon Luke Thomas will get a call up soon.

Youri & De Ketelaere unimpressive....

That hasn't, though, spared players from criticism some seven months from the tournament kicking off in Qatar in what was the first international since qualification concluded for Martinez's squad. One-time Belgium international Eddy Snelders singled out Tielemans as one of three players who failed to seize their opportunity against the Boys in Green.

"It was sometimes a bit like the Procession of Echternach," Snelders, an analyst for Belgian multimedia brand Sporza, said [via voetbalkrant.com ]. This refers to an annual Roman Catholic dancing procession held in eastern Luxembourg.

Snelders continued: "Especially Youri Tielemans. That is a figure we expect leadership from, someone who can steer a match. Only he was remarkably absent. After a few good matches at Leicester, we dare to fall into euphoria and superlatives rather quickly, but we shouldn't have to bring that out against Ireland."

AC Milan winger Alexis Saelemaekers and reported City transfer target Charles De Ketelaere were also singled out. Tielemans and Co are next set to be in action on home soil in Brussels when they take on Burkina Faso at Anderlecht's Lotto Park.

Not sure if Alves has played for the U17's today, Popov has played for Wales.

How's Alves not playing against Luxembourg u17s. He's made mincemeat of older players of a much higher standard

2 different 11s for the 2 games

Alves has come on at half time, now losing 2-0 lol

I'm watching 7 matches at once here in France, on Équipe 21. Kinda annoying really as you can't get into any one match.

Nigeria goal correctly adjudged offside by VAR, score stays 1-1. Egypt lose a 3rd player to injury with only 37 minutes gone.

Edit: Mendy's just had a decent pop at goal - not something you see often.

Why is he a bad manager? Just curious. So far he has entered two tournaments and got a semi final and a final finish. That is better than the majority of managers we have had in the past so why do people say he is a bad manager for England?
