Hi everyone.

Looking for some advice please.

Basically took my lad cinema 2 weeks ago to see Space Jam. Got a letter through the post back end of last week saying we owe a £60 fine for parking on Odeon/Local Hero car park?

Since when has this been a thing and is there anyway around it, could i not show them my cinema tickets/bank statement that we used the facility

Can't offer much advise but it's been in place for many years, the pub and cinema have a screen you input your numberplate into. You could try and appeal it by sending them your receipt but the private firms aren't all that helpful. I haven't done it here but I had an appeal turned down elsewhere in a similar situation, they just said it's well signposted and the facilities are available to input your numberplate so it's your fault basically. Definitely worth a try though.

Speak to the odeon manager first they should be able to overturn it for you if they are helpful

I got £100 fine for using (embarrassingly) the Mecca Bingo car park when in there. I was sure I registered the plate but got the letter through anyway.

Anyway I took the letter through to Mecca and their manager was great and sorted it for me. If you can prove that you were using the cinema when you were parked there, you should be fine mate.

Did you go into the ocean and input your car registration?

That's what you were SUPPOSED to do PRE-COVID.

If I was you, I'd go back there and check what you need to do now.

We are going tomorrow  so I'll check  and let you know.

In theory, if you can process you watched the film and weren't over the 3 hour(I'm surest its 3) time limit, this should be enough evidence to have it rescindede

It's not so much a fine as an invoice. If the operators of the car park aren't members of the BPA or IPC, they can't force you to pay up, so it might be worth checking that first. Then if they are members, their signage was clear, you don't consider the charge to be exorbitant, and you can't persuade them that the invoice was unjustified because you weren't in breach of contract, then I'd keeping them waiting as long as possible to pay, then cough up the money in the most inconvenient form possible. Perhaps you could also tell them that the matter was debated on Foxestalk and that it wasn't great publicity for them!

Had this multiple times at the Odeon as I’m a twat and forget to enter my number plate. Appeal it showing your cinema ticket and they over turn it.

Last time I went to the Odeon I got back to the car and on the windscreen was a note saying 'Parking Fine'.

I thought "Well that's very nice of you to say so. Thanks very much"

Tommy Cooper lives on. lol

You drive a Jag, this just isn’t true. You have to park over two spaces because your bollocks are that big you wouldn’t get out of the car otherwise.

Pretty good advice on here. I got away with one Morrison’s car park a few years back. Went to see the manager, lied through my teeth and denied I’d been footy, probably helped I filled a trolley with groceries when I went to see. Still got to online court appeal, though when I tried to put my appeal in the court said it had already been paid by the plaintiff???

Whose the parking company? There is a website I found once that tells you which companies are most likely to take you court. I used this for another fine once and saw they rarely pursued  it to court, ignored their letters and it went away.

Edit.
I also joined this forum and got a lot of good help and advice when fighting my parking eye one at Morrison’s.
