That gets given as a penalty if it’s a defender.

Does it? Normally, a defection off another part of your body onto your arm is not considered a handball  - you can argue that on this occasion whatmore played the ball rather than it deflecting off him - it’s a 50/50 and perhaps because Taylor didn’t give it the var stayed with his original call

Yeah, he played it away from his body with his foot then back into play with his hand…

It wasn’t a deliberate play - it was a miss control ….

if that was a defender and the ball went back towards his keeper then it would have been ok to pick it up.

Exactly what I just said. Even in spite of the rule change I think that has to be disallowed.

Howling at Fernandes. What a ****.

Well the ‘new rule’ is absolute boulderdash

Well everyone kicked up a fuss with the  old one saying it was unfair etc .

I guess there has to be some middle ground though ?

Yeah, seems like a game defining moment that Fernandes miss. Boro are night and day from how they looked under Warnock. No surprise really..

Why is it handball if he scored?

Why is it not handball just because he missed the target and someone else scored?

Because an accidental handball that leads directly to a goal with the next touch or by the same player within another touch or two  is not allowed.

Whatever the penalty decision, Man United were assembled for many multiples of Boro's squad, and Man United have been gash for the last 25 minutes.

They'll probably win late on, but they have been putrid.

Pretty sure Spurs scored a goal against us last year when Kane handballed, then another player finished?

Could be wrong.

It's a goal under the laws of the game.

Hilarious that the commentators and Man Utd media are crying about it (Rio Ferdinand and Alex Bruce both quoted on BBC website)

The live commentary was disgraceful though by Matterface and Dixon "And Boro score but its handball" lol

It just so plainly seems like an obvious handball. All these rule changes man..
