In the crazy world of Foxestalk your story is actually credible at Tesco but if you'd mentioned Morrisons it would have been almost certainly rejected as a wind up!

only if its the one on Freeman's Common any others are acceptable

I wondered what happened to him because I'm sure I heard him on RL other week when I was driving to one of our home games.

he's been back a few times, think he's freelancing

I don't know what the club's stance is on players and published media, or social media.

I guess the club do give guidelines on how to handle the media and probably they could do more to help the players, because like it or not some people are constantly out for a story and some will do almost anything to get it.

Some of the players do seem to know what they are doing.

Kasper in particular seems very intelligent and articulate and whenever I see him on the box or YouTube he is a very good ambassador for the club and for the game in general.

But the reporting of Jeffrey Schlupp's accident on the M1 a few years ago was farcical and his response did him no favours at all (he said that he wasn't worried about wrecking his Lamborghini because he had three more).

In his defence I expect most 23 year old men, including those on this forum, would not make a great job of presenting themselves after an accident like this. But 23 year old Premier League footballers are not ordinary 23 year olds and they should get a bit of help so they learn to avoid making complete fools of themselves.

It could be much worse. We could have someone at the club spouting inarticulate and ridiculous drivel about Peppa Pig, and then just not understanding why they have attracted widespread ridicule.

The Mercury website is heavily influenced by Reach PLC - which owns many national and local newspapers. Reach journos sensationalise any news about movement in and out of City. Some of their headlines are embarrassing an insensitive - promoting potential moves away from the Club - Tielemans, Fofana, Rodgers etc. Clickbait to get readers to see the bizarre and banal adverts on the website's pages.

The paper is kosher of a Monday. Match reports are fulsome and objective, with a City bias, as it should be. That's the only time I buy it - for match reports that is.

I've disliked Stringer's Monday RL presentation since it began. It became a cliquey hour of in-jokes and joshing. I disliked his fawning over the Kasabian bloke particularly.

Stringer appears to be on the manic-depressive spectrum - either very high or very low. Maybe he's on a low at the moment and cannot function.

I genuinely mistook OPA for Stringer at the changeover - could have been a clone I was listening to. The show has calmed down somewhat since Stringer's departure, but it's become, like so many TV and radio broadcasts, self-centered. Foulger used to take many more fan calls. You heard some dross yet you heard a lot of informed opinion as well.

I used to look forward to the broadcasts, but now I feel there's not a lot to be gleaned from it. I want info and opinion, not banter.

Think I might change my name if I was called Kap Khun Krap. In addition to the obvious I hope that his parents didn’t use just initials on his PE kit name tag

That's Thai for thank you.

One thing I like about the Thais is their culture of quiet respect, you should try that on and see if it fits mate.

As a member of the press -- I don't cover sports -- access to the people you cover is important: Both for you, and for them. Journalists are by nature cynical and suspicious. If you don't talk to us, we wonder: What are you hiding?

I think having regular access to players/managers -- such as the "media days" common in U.S. sports -- would do a world of good for football journalism in the UK. If people are tired of B.S., conjecture, fabrication, etc... just remember: Newspapers get published everyday, the radio/tv show has to go out according to its schedule. They aren't going to print blank pages or put out dead time on air. If they had actual stuff to report, then there would be less crap out there.

As for the local scene: Leicester, due to market size, will always be a Peter Principle in action post. Either it's a stepping stone or it's where you find out you won't get better. This is why the better journalists seem to move on (heck, many move on as freelancers, because it helps their career more than staying in a small market.) Thankfully, lots of them seem to remain Leicester fans, even after they go national.

Agree with this except for your last point, which I feel is a little unfair. Plenty of talented journalists choose to stay local simply because they care about the communities they serve or don't want to play the game of trying to get a look in on Fleet Street by doing work that's often beneath them.

I always understood that the player boycott was because after a defeat Stringer made a thumb drawn across his throat gesture about Pearson that was knowingly done in front of several players. After that they wouldn't do any post match interviews.

Couldn't be bothered to open yet another thread about him since the previous two are both locked, but am I right that Ian Stringer was back on the football forum this week?

I wasn't really listening as I was on my way out, but sure I heard him in passing the kitchen radio. Anyone tune in who could enlighten us?

..  I  think in a flash back commentary would have been the moment you walked pass the door!!!

Owen's commentary seems to be a bit behind the play, he has a habit of commenting on a sequence after it was done. You get the feeling he is "ball watching " as opposed to doing what he should be doing.

It was indeed farcical and most likely completely made up bollocks
The only 'evidence' of Jeffrey saying this was an unnamed 'witness' who just happened to pull up at the scene and stood within earshot of this alleged conversation.
