Someone will overlook this season and view his record in Ligue One and then with us two seasons ago as fail safe at Championship level. Be nice to make a profit on his remaining book value but in reality we probably just need him off the books.

Agreed - clubs will look at a lot of the players in this squad and think they were simply underperforming for a season, and it's more just down to the toxic environment at the club. In some cases they're probably not wrong, to be honest. Whoever is in charge of negotiating player exits this summer has got a really difficult job on, the club are going to want to secure fees for players to help finance a rebuild, but the fees are going to need to be low enough that the buying clubs will be able to then spend a bit more on the inflated wages that these players are currently on. If it's Rudkin, then we're in trouble, as he has got a very, very poor track record on this front.

£2.5m on the books, no idea what his value would be.

It absolutely wouldn't surprise me if an upper mid table Championship club with some financial backing lumps a little north of £5m on him. An overall loss for us but an in-year PSR profit against his remaining book value. Although probably not much when you factor in his loyalty fee.

A lot will depend on what his wages look like after relegation and whether a buying club can and will match those. Probably more significant than whatever the fee would be.

I can't believe Mavididi is only 27, thought he was approaching his football twighlight years.

He's mostly shit but there is definitely enough there for a championship side to pick him up and he might do ok. Anyone matches his wages will be the problem though, if we can't get a perm transfer then he deserves to suffer with league 1.

Please go to Derby just to stink their place out lol

No serious club in the 2nd tier sees what guff he's produced this season and thinks 'yeah we think he'll be good for us'.

I think there will be a lot of "we can fix him" types.

Two seasons ago he managed 12 goals from the wing. That puts him in that Femi Azeez, Brandon Thomas-Asante, Jadon Philogene territory and every club in the league would want that.

Obviously you have to ignore the two years of absolute guff since but still, I can definitely see someone fancying that risk for a couple of million quid.

Just won player of the years, fans player of the year and goal of the season. Free transfer because refused new contract.

Stellar league 1 signing on paper.

He's only down the road from Seagrave as well, probably wouldn't even have to move. Pay rise, better facilities than he'll get anywhere in the Championship. Feels like a no brainer, but watch this lot **** it up.

Translation - .... with the 27 year old open to earning more money than he would in league one ....

Translation, he thinks he is better than he actually is being as he was in the team that was the highest paid in the Championship where he gave one of the lowest inputs in terms of assists.

If we can get £5 million for this lazy idiot thats good business. He might perform for a good man manager that is willing to hold him to account on a regular basis. The culture at this club its never going to work. We need players who want to do well for themselves.

I’d be getting him on loan, ain’t playing a minute of PL footy after that obligation

Apparently he's cost them £7mill!

We really need them to want some of our players.

I've got a feeling it will have taken a relegation to sign the sort of players we should have been looking at all along.

Going away from that model is what f'd us in the first place.

Tbf from what I have seen McAteer seems to have had a good second half of the season and seems fairly well liked. They’ll be after a CM for a reasonable price, maybe they’ll take Winks

He's become a lot more popular with their fans after following the Youri Tielemans and James Justin path of initially being very poor at a new club before improving dramatically once the influence of Seagrave starts to wane...

Don't even remember this bloke from the academy - good record in League One last season though.

Horrendous creativity stats (15 career assists in league football for a 25 year old winger is awful) and Burton won't give him up so soon after signing him without wanting a few quid given he scored a few goals.

I don't think he'd be right for us.

Yeah I could see it, I would say his overall value has decreased since we signed him.
