Don't see how we let him allow his contract to expire, we need the money for the rebuild or a fully engaged Youri.

If he doesn't get his move, you'd expect both sides to see common sense and agree a new contract with a release clause for a CL club.

...why would Youri do that!!!

This is a situation he has masterly cultivated, he cannot lose, it is money in his pocket. We have little choice now, than to sell in the summer or January window.

I don’t think we will shift him.

It would be typical, wouldn't it? I don't think Arsenal are the only side interested though - Madrid, Juventus, and others have been noted as keeping an eye on him. Both are leagues he'd thrive in too. It would just mean a lower fee for us.

I don't see how he fits in at Man City, have they ever had a player who wasn't pretty quick.

Is Fernandinho quick? Genuine question as I have no idea 😅

He used to be very mobile, probably not anymore

Why would Tielemans do that? Free transfers are well known to be quids in for the player and allow them to get a bigger contract. It would be common sense for him to run his contract down.

If he doesn't go this summer, he goes for nothing next summer no doubt, probably after another season of performances like this one.

Maybe I’m being overly optimistic but would hope after the support the club have given him, he’d come to a compromise. And players in similar situations - Grealish most recently - have done this.

But reflecting on it, I think you’re right.

I know swap deal seldom transpire but the one we ought to be pursuing would be Tielemans for Saliba. I cannot believe Arsenal don't consider Saliba to be their future but it appears they are going to let him go. It would be incredible business to pair Saliba and Fofana together.

....Just watched his Youtube Showreel for OM and then his Arsenal debut!!!

Pretty much chalk and cheese, he seems a more dynamic player for OM and the tempo is quicker. He appears to love to be involved in the game and his passing is very good, he makes risky passes when he has to and they find their man with zip.

In the Arsenal reel, they are trying to play out from the back and he looks phased to the point of trying to look to force the tempo with a quick ball into midfield hoping it will find a player willing to go forward, but it goes backwards and ends up with him. You need a totally different mindset to play in this way and unless you are a front footed club, he is going to be stifled playing this negative style of play.

The last place that he would be looking to come to, would be here, after watching us this season.

Good mates with Fofana as well I believe both coming through the St Étienne academy. Only concern would be that they could be too similar in playing style to each other.

He hasn't made his debut for the Arsenal first team, so what were you watching?

He hasn't kicked a ball for them at that level.

Correct me if I'm wrong but they literally were the CB pairing at St. Étienne in 19/20 under Puel

On the money Ric.  That would be a great swap.

If youri doesn’t sign a new contract and nobody comes in for him, I’d expect him to be on the bench for most of next season considering the shift he’s put in this season. He’ll get his free transfer but will not have played much football.

It would be nice to get him, but I think we’d want cash as part of it too. They bought him for £27mill ish and Arteta doesn’t want him and never has. You’d hope we could get him at a loss to them.

We could probably talk them into a loan to buy if they want to recoup the full fee, that way we’re not taking any big risks and can offset his fee against next years transfer window.

Saliba, Pepe and we give them some cash would solve a lot of problems. They are open to both leaving so worth a try. Wages may be a problem for Pepe. Still can't believe they paid 72m for him but he scored 16 goals last season as a Left footed RW when he was playing regularly so he can do it in the prem it's just that they have Saka. Him, Barnes and Maddison could each bang in 15 goals + a piece with Vardy and Daka bringing in at least the same each. Double figures for Ihaenacho and others chipping in we would have enough goals in us to really have a go. Saliba would go a long way to solving the defence. We would still need to replace Tielemans and that won't be easy but those 2 would go a long way.

I’ve thought Pepe would be good for us for a long time. What will be his wage demands, though ?

Not 72 million special but solid player for us, especially with the hole we have at RW.
