We’ve lost experience in Wes and Fuchs. We’d have been better retaining them

for a year, rather the the money wasted on the Bertrand / Vestergaard.

We moved to Seagrave and it’s a new base for everyone, with new training methods etc. We definitely weren’t playing water polo at at Belvoir Drive, unless it rained a lot.

Considerable injuries to a fairly thin squad. Attacking wise we’ve actually been okay. KDH has been a major boost but we a defensive leader. The defence is a mess though and really needed addressing this window one war or another. Seems we’re going to amble on to the summer though.

In reality, people wanted us to continue to push the top 4. With all the above upheaval and let’s be honest, wasted money on the two players from Southampton, we’ve not sustained our position.

However …… too 10 and UEFA Conference league and we’ll have had a decent season, or at least better than Tottenham, Everton and Arsenal in my opinion.

What’s happened has happened. Hope Rogers makes the best use of the players coming back now so we can salvage something from this season. I’m at peace with it now.

finally, a somewhat rational comment that i can agree with.

good piece explaining the form of this season compared to last season, on the sporting life football page

All the stats are down

we should re assess at the end of the season when we’ve had a chunk of games with more first choice players back

With JJ, Little Wes back I suspect things shall improve

Vardy isn't as big of a loss as some people think on here with Nacho Man and Daka returning

It's just been... one of those seasons - every team gets a run of back luck and it's currently our turn

The Daka / Iheanacho partnership ought to see some goals this month, even in a tough run of fixtures.

I think it's the mix of players behind them that's the dilemma. KDH plays best in a diamond for us and Tielemans doesn't but I'd still go with that to start with and see how we get on.

This run of bad luck where injuries are concerned has been going on for over two seasons now. I'm not sure that any other club has had as much bad luck despite what the media tell us and all of the prayers given to Liverpool.

I will take this bad luck on injuries now because people seem to forget we got through the 15/16 title winning season with no injuries to our main starting 11. Luck went in our favour that season. It might just be our turn 🤔

...Youri struggled in that set up and found it hard to get into the game!!!

Soumare would have been a better option, as he is more mobile and can cover the areas out wide where Youri needed to slot in order to cover other players pushing forward.

Here’s a thought

every summer we have sold a high profile player  - hence, any of our better players who have interest from elsewhere has been told - ‘sorry but we can’t sell two of you in one summer window’.

last summer we didn’t

has this led to some players becoming disillusioned?  Feeling that they could be earning more elsewhere?  Playing for a higher profile club? Remember these guys are not like us - it’s their careers and they have advisors, family in their ears.

selling one can mean that the rest are then left with an explanation and get on with it. Selling none means that several players can be unsettled.

as the thread says - ‘what’s changed’?

it’s not just the injuries - we can see that they aren’t all putting it in, both physically and mentally.  and when you lose a few percent at this level you get found out.

the team played at a level above itself for nearly three years under brendan

They have won the facup and a lot of them have not so much down tools as seriously lost  a edge as a group.Lets remember Wes Morgan ( a throwback player), the ever popular Fuchs have been lost the dressing room. Popular figures like King have gone in the last few years two

Modern players time listening to managers has grown less and less, mobile phones technology means team spirit now is less than what it was because of distractions. Players know if they play badly its the manager who gets sacked so there bearing of responsibility is less and less. Look at the amount of managers sacked this year I have counted its almost half of all managers in the first two leagues which is ridiculous.

We are also in the era of huge squards multiple changes (five subs yesterday), the team in 2016 that won the league you could pick every week, that helps form a close bond. You couldn't even get close to doing that now , I think the 2016 title wont be repeated by anybody for that reason now. In this generation born 95 onwards I don't see lads willing to go to the trenches the way that group did.

You don't play above your level for three years on the trot. We still have most of those players on the books that produced some wonderful football over that period. Some of those players who have not been injured are now playing so bad its embarrassing.

It can only mean a breakdown of respect for the manager and lets face it we have seen this happen again and again since Ranieri got the sack.

If players lose respect for what ever reason then it's down hill from there. What rogers said yesterday is what he has been thinking for quite some time, you don't lambast players like that in public over one bad game. Sadly it's now going to be a case of either he goes or the club gets rid of those players he clearly thinks are undermining his position. I think I know which way it's going to go.
