EV charging point at the new training ground is utterly pointless. Anyone honestly think our players are going to buy a tesla?

A lot more out there than just Teslas

Quite a lot of players used the i8s they were given, wouldn’t be surprised if some of the players, and probably staff also, have hybrid or fully electric cars

Most manufacturers are going electric only quite soon, given how quickly players get new cars more will be needed, I'd have thought.

I know but if you look at all the car companies that they use there is literally zero demand for electrics. They're all petrol heads. All of them apart from I think chilwell sold their i8s.

I did a site visit at another training ground recently and the demand for EV charging points was what caused them to put them in, not wanting to be green. Multiple players had electric vehicles but also there are far more people that use the training ground than just players.

Mid table in 2021. More needs to be done starting with getting rid of the clappers.

How green are Premier League clubs & what are they doing to help? - https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/60196764

I'm a sustainability consultant and work with a Premier League Football club and I am actually surprised we do as well as we do this year. We are one of the very few clubs who basically make zero reference to sustainability on our website, which indicates it isn't a strategic priority.

I like sports positive (who make the table) but I think the methodology is a bit random in some areas.

Fair enough. That's good to hear.

With the mileage constraints and so many living far afield i wonder how practical this may be.

The whole idea of the new training ground was to be future proof and state of the art.

Like yourself, I think the EV chargers are probably gathering dust right now

but it ticks the 'future proof' box.

I also posted this in the "Atmosphere at the KP" thread ...

Everyone ... just drop the club an Email, and point out how "un-green" the clappers are (and a waste of material).    If they really want them, then just have a few in a box that people can pick up .... if they really, really want to

I think there's more chance of getting something changed, if we pursue that route, rather than the "we don't like them".

Email: [email protected]  (or maybe [email protected]).   Or if not, use the [email protected] and ask them to forward it to the relevant area.

True, and without saying who this was a training ground where the players were much more likely to be local (but similar sized club) so you may have a point. I think in the long run they'll get use though

You do know it's not just the players who park at the training ground right?

I do a bit of work at Fulham and they have clappers on every other seat in the Hammersmith Stand and the home side of the Putney Stand.

They also place flags of varying sizes around the stands and have “honesty”  wheelie-bins where they can be returned after the match

Yeah the coaching staff do too, none of whom have an EV.

....can you just clarify if you are referring to LCFC or the club you are working for!!!

Also for clarification "sustainability" in the respect of being "Green" or in the running of the financing of the club?

Sorry - the comments are about LCFC. If you look at most club websites in the division they have a section on sustainability. And not financial sustainability, i was talking about environmental and social sustainability (so being green + things they do for community etc). This league table is specifically about environmental sustainability.
