That's just reminded me that I'm already signed up for the Big 10k (the one in Abbey Park) the following month.  Need to pull my finger out, I'd completely forgotten about that

I'll probably sign up to that too - think a lot of people use that as a PB run because it's pancake flat isn't it? The 2nd March one has a long slog up London Road from what I can see so that won't be fun.

Now doing my 5k at just over 24 minutes. Lost 13kg since I started - hate rest days.

Need to increase my resistant training but the next target is a 10k and then a 10k under 1 hour.

This is some effort :appl:

I've just bagged 7.5km it feels like summer out there compared to last week.

Now that's what you call a trail run in the Leicestershire alps.

This near Leicester road/the quarry in Whitwick? Looks really familiar but could also just be because there's a bunch of trees and stone lol

I was impressed when I saw some guy with a massive back pack do Braunstone park run.

22:15 my 5km this morning, PB.

Happy with that after a 20km Wednesday and 8km recovery run on Fri. Still have tight legs and it's cold/frosty af this morn.

Beat this today. 21:53 just now.

Absolutely ****ed though, my first 1km was a 4 minute split which tbh held me back in the last couple of 2km. Not sure I can actually get much better than this time, possibly when my shin splints have fully cleared but can't see me getting 21 minutes or under unless I perhaps did a race or park run rather than my running on the street.

Nearly threw up when I stopped running 🤢🤣

Definitely prefer 10km or more. Find with a 5km I'm checking my Strava for the time and pace constantly, it's definitely a pressure run 5km is. Well for me anyway

Completely agree with that last part, I always used to be the same. Not quite as bad any more but I can’t fully let go of chasing times as I think if I go slower it’s not as good of a work out.

Well done for the time though, I’ve not been below 22 mins for a while.

Did 8 miles in 1 hour 10 minutesround Western Park area yesterday morning. Happy with that as still burning through the Christmas indulgence. Will do a 40 minute run this evening to set myself for a good week at work.
Moving to Stoneygate next month, any good routes round there?

Plenty.

Head out past the Golf Course and Cow and Plough and into quiet Country roads. Road lap of Stoughton Airfield is decent.

Or

I do a 'Three Park Run' as I like to call it for a city run, taking in Vicky Park, Knighton Park and Brocks Hill Country Park.

Surprisingly lumpy around these parts too.

Alternative is in to town via Vicky Park and New Walk, pick up the canal near Frog Island or Abbey Park, back to Aylestone and home. Extension to Watermead first if you're feeling crazy!

My fastest 5k

A bit shit compared to most on here but 1 minute off my last attempt.

Question, do you empty yourself over the 5k or able to keep going after as I can another half a mile.

Empty for my best time, usually at a parkrun.

Don't knock your time, that's great! Keep going.

Agree with above, empty yourself for a PB over the 5k. I always feel like I'm going to vomit at the end

100% dying from if I get close to my 5k PB.

Think I can probably knock a bit more off if aiming to have nothing left in the tank.

Not looking forward to it mind.

I need to try and run slower for longer I think as my AHR is quite high compared to others I know.

On my last km of a naughty 5km I whack Untouched by The Veronicas on and the timing of the beat helps me blitz the end

God help my Spotify Wrapped

Such a good tune.

Interesting point though with regards to music whilst running. I used to never be able to go on a run without putting music on first. Nowadays I prefer to run with no music at all, what are people's preferences?

I never put anything on for a hard run as I can't concentrate on anything else so it's pointless.

I always put a podcast on for easy/long runs though. Great for zoning out.

I did Leamington parkrun this morning for the first time. It had a bit of ice in places and partially on grass. And a proper (short) hill!!!

Quite enjoyed it and got about 24:30. There were loads there, might try it again in warmer weather.
