I've entered, hoping if I'm really rude about how I secretly hope I won't be selected means I actually will.

I recommend trying through charity places directly. I got a place in 2015 from an article in the Mercury. They asked me like two questions and I was in!

You have to raise loads of cash though don’t you?

I didn't quite reach my target, but tried my hardest. It's not like they were going to take the place back off me once I'd signed up... I can't quite remember at what point they asked me to transfer what I'd raised but it was never a problem for me.

Fair enough, I’ve done similar before and I really can’t be arsed with that pressure. Thought you were saying you just got a place without doing anything.

Did the Coventry half in 2:07 yesterday.

Really happy with that seeing as I hadn't trained, it was really hot and lots more hills than anticipated!

Coventry not the dump I expected it to be. I haven't been in the city itself for 20 years. Might have been the sun shining and the countryside route though..

Aimed for 10 miles today but to avoid the heat I set off before 8am. Absolutely drained me and I cried off at 8.5 miles.

What's worse - running in boiling heat or pounding rain?

Definitely the heat 🥵

I quite like running in the rain if it's not too cold. Heat can **** off when it comes to running.

Lots going on Desford this weekend celebrating the 80th VE day. Our running club are doing a 80 mile VE day relay carrying a message dropped by the RAF falcons parachute team to Winston Churchill.  Doing them in 2 mile laps, I'm down to do about 3 I think.

Wow this week has been my first week in a while where I'm majorly struggling. Hay-fever has scuppered me getting up early every day so I've felt like my motivation for running has fell off a cliff.

Went out to do a speed session at lunch yesterday and thankfully my watch wasn't recording the distance on the warm up so having realised after 15 mins, I just then did another 7km steady run. Legs are tired from last week and the heat I need to get used to again.

Will try and get out tonight for a skirmish and then planning to do the Bosworth half marathon route this weekend ahead of the race there the following Sunday. I am determined to plan for any hills after what Kettering did to me in my quest to go 1hr 45 or below 😂

Out at 6am, was already warm. Had a Chinese last night as well so wasn’t expecting the best.
Close to PR at 5K (26:51) and 10K (56:06).

Signed up for Manchester Marathon next year.

Just done the King's Lynn 10k. My first ever race event, not even done a parkrun before

Tried to hang on to the coattails to the 40 mins pacer and did so for the first 5k.

5k time was my PB at 20:12 which means I can defo do that under 20 mins I think now.

I dropped off a bit in second half with a bit of shin splint discomfort and heavy legs around the 6-7k mark and tracked 4:40 which I'm a little annoyed about.

But fought back to a 4:25 twice at 8k and 9k and got a 4:04 at the final K.

Overall time was 42:13 which is almost 3 mins better than my PB. I'm pleased but would have been delighted with under 42 mins.

I think I'll keep on working on the interval running with the odd long run, but I definitely need to do a parkrun to smash under the 20mins mark

That's fantastic. We were talking about the pace the elite marathon runners go at the other day but before we even get to that, I can't get my head round how quick you go!

That's 10 mins faster than my PB at 10k

Just tried the Bosworth half marathon route ahead of the race on Sunday. Lovely stuff, didn't see a moving vehicle for the first half of it.

Did have to stop for a Richard III and got lost but 1hr 43 is a PB by 5 mins. Now to follow it up with a 1hr 45 in an official race and I can rest up for the year 😂😂

You mean to say you aren't doing the Leicester half?
