Think you'd be hard pushed to find anyone on here who wouldn't swap our position with Everton's.

Obviously, Everton are in pole position and have the points on the board, but way too many people on here saying it’s all done and dusted and doesn’t matter Everton will win anyway. Which is not based on any evidence- if this wasn’t the last game of the season Bournemouth would be favourites.

The Bear Posted 23 May 2023 Posted 23 May 2023 As I've said before we're not close to being in FFP trouble. Our CEO leaked to the media through local journos that we can't spend too much (probably to stop having our pants pulled down with transfer fees), and Lopetegui likely isn't happy about that message publicly undermining his saying we need to improve the squad. Ballague is a pal of his so it's clearly been used to put pressure on the CEO to give him the funds promised when he joined. Lopetegui is a top coach and isn't going to be messed around. It's very unlikely the club will let him walk. We can afford another window of spending, particularly because the sale of Neves and other fringe players will bring in plenty to offset the FFP issues of any large transfer spend. 1

Sounds a lot like how we as fans here at Leicester saw ourselves at the end of last season, until reality set in later in the window/when this season started. Not saying you’re wrong, but just be wary. Edited 23 May 2023 by Pete52

On the basis that Everton need a win and Bournemouth don’t that doesn’t mean Everton have an easy win but at home they should be favourites I’m also wondering about their fans coming onto the pitch as they did last season v palace. They definitely intimidated the palace players in that last fifteen minutes who became desperate to get off that pitch before any fans could get on and reach them. They had no incentive to try and find an equaliser that day. The club also have no interest in quelling that likely occurrence. It stank last season and nothing was really said about it because everyone was distracted by what happened with their fans and viera post match

They have rich owners and they will need to build the brand and create income, like Man City have, but within the rules. Their yearly revenue is similar to ours and they splashed the cash in recent windows and not really sold, so FFP will grind them to a halt soon enough. Rich owners doesn't equal rich club. Yea that ffp certainly sorts them out doesn’t it

We've had to reign in spending, Wolves are potentially losing their manager because FFP means he won't be able to spend what he wants in the summer. The reason Man City are under investigation is because they've cooked their figures to increase revenue to meet FFP regulations and allow themselves to spend more. Newcastle don't have the revenue and they haven't had time to increase revenue or fake figures like Man City.

Fear Of The Fox Posted 23 May 2023 Posted 23 May 2023 In a few words, teams in top 4 (or top 6) in every major league can break the FFP without caring about any consequences but all the other teams have to adapt and adjust their transfer policies. Not only this but they're making statements to the media about this. I just love modern football.

The BBC article now up about this says we made a loss of £46m in the last published set of accounts (21/22), and will likely make a loss this season (22/23) due to our transfer spending. What the BBC article doesn't tell you is that we made a profit of £145m the previous year (20/21). Thats why I said we'll be fine until next season (end of 23/24) when that profitable year drops off the 3 year FFP cycle. Particularly as I've already mentioned, we were always going to sell players this summer due to a bloated squad, the manager wanting his own players, and Neves likely to leave, plus a few players are out of contract and leaving any way (Moutinho, Traore and Costa). If Neves goes to Barcelona as planned then we'll likely make £60m+ in player sales. We may be trying to reduce spending in anticipation of future accounts, but our owners Fosun have been courting and waiting for Lopetegui for 6 years now! It would be insane of them to lose him after half a season by lying to him about the finances!! If that genuinely happens then Fosun won't last very long.
Staff Posted 23 May 2023 Posted 23 May 2023 Not one chance Neves goes to Barcelona, let alone for 60m 😂
