LCFC Women WSL Academy Graduates Join First Team Environment
PRESS RELEASE

LCFC Women can confirm that four graduates from LCFC Women’s WSL Academy have been fully integrated into the Foxes’ first team environment, with several competing for game time on dual registration loans.
- Four graduates of LCFC Women’s WSL Academy to train full-time with the first team
- Three players will also compete for game time on dual-registration loans
- Monique Robinson, Sophia Poor and Mackenzie Smith are heading out on loan
- Ava Baker will remain with the LCFC Women first team squad on a full-time basis

Monique Robinson, 17 and Sophia Poor, 16 will both make the step into the senior game with FA Women's National League outfit Loughborough Lightning, having graduated from LCFC Women’s WSL Academy last season.

Fellow team-mate Mackenzie Smith 17 also takes her first strides into the professional game, having joined Nottingham Forest on loan while also retaining dual-registration status.

Now fully integrated into Lydia Bedford’s first team environment, the trio will compete for matchday minutes with their respective loan clubs, while training full-time at Belvoir Drive to provide further selection options to City’s coaching staff.

During Ava Baker’s debut season in a City shirt, the 16-year-old made four appearances for the Foxes – two of which came in Barclays Women’s Super League action – and she will now make the leap into full-time football with LCFC Women.

Lydia Bedford said: “Alongside building a competitive Barclays Women’s Super League first team, it’s imperative for the development of LCFC Women to provide a twin track opportunity to support our best young players in their development and transition to senior football from our WSL Academy system.

“This season, we are including Ava Baker, Mackenzie Smith, Monique Robinson, and Sophia Poor in our first team squad. They will be training in a full-time programme as part of our senior environment, while spending time out on loan in the FA National League on a dual-registration basis.”

The youngsters heading out on loan will now link up with their respective clubs ahead of the new FA Women’s National League campaign, which is set to get underway in August.

Lost 1-0 to OH Leuven (2nd best team in Belgium atm) in a friendly at Belvoir Drive earlier, looks like all 5 of the OHL players from the Belgian national team that just got to the quarters played too, Evrard, Kees, Tysiak, Van Kerkhoven & Eurlings; Cattoor, Janssens, Van Belle, Mertens & Detruyer are internationals as well, Eurlings got the goal.

OH Leuven Women on Instagram: “S T A R T I N G X I Deze 11 @ohlwomen nemen het dadelijk op tegen @lcfcwomen! 👊 #friendly #LEIOHL #ohleuvenwomen #preseason #trainingcamp…”

Looks like a couple hundred season tickets gone so far, average attendance was 1,947 last season (4th behind Manchester United, Arsenal & Chelsea) including a couple games at Burton Albion so it'd be nice to see those numbers rise this year off the back of the Euros

....maybe the Men's team not playing on a Sunday may allow a bigger audience for the ladies' game!!!

I can see attendances doubling this season, with the option to get to games where we are not competing against the main event. We are finally about to see how far we can go in respect of the support we are capable of getting for the WSL.

Birmingham City Women have signed Leicester City midfielder Charlie Devlin on a season-long loan, revealed by a press release earlier today.

Devlin, who is a former graduate of the Arsenal academy setup, will prove to be a real asset for Darren Carter’s side.

The midfielder joined Manchester United and helped them to the league title in her first attempt. Then after a short spell at Charlton Athletic, Devlin then joined Leicester City where she won another title in the form of the Barclays Women’s Championship.

Although she only made six appearances for The Foxes last term she brings a wealth of experience into the newly relegated Birmingham side.

Completing her move to St Andrews, Devlin said:

“I’m so excited. There is a good vibe and good energy here. With the group of girls we’ve got, I feel like we’ve got a good team spirit to do well in this league.

“I like the way Darren (Carter) manages the girls and the style of football will really benefit me.”

Devlin becomes Birmingham City’s eighth signing of what has been a very busy summer transfer window.

Afternoon all,

My 8 year old is really keen to go and watch the women's side, she has started playing for her school this year and she was well into the final last night!

A couple of quick questions if someone wouldn't mind? 1) How much is a match day ticket for an adult and a child? 2) Can you simply turn up and pay on the gate?

I appreciate that the season tickets are super-cheap and I'll probably end up getting us both one but want to check she's still interested after a few games first.

Cheers

£8 adults, £4 kids, U8's free. Pay on the day will be fine no doubt as games are never sold out. Sounds like most games should be at the KP this season.

Reports that all WSL clubs have had a huge boost in ticket sales.

Seems City's sales of season tickets have rocketed by 259%

Not surprised considering how cheap they are. :scarf:
