Highly-rated midfielder Hamza Choudhury has signed for Watford FC on a season-long loan with an option to buy, the club confirms.

From Watford website

His contract is up in the summer though and I think he'll be 25 and therefore we'd not get any fee anyway? Maybe there's an agreement that they owe us a fee if he signs permanently and they've got promoted but bet we don't see that happen.

Fantastic news, hopefully they are covering a good chunk of his wages.

they will be paying half at least so thats another 30-40k off the books- add in Kasper that 150+- keep it coming

That's a decent loan for Hamza, he needs to be playing regularly and we need space in the squad, shame though to see a local lad leave the club.

And he's joining a good Championship side who should be at the top end of the table all season.

Good move all round, especially if they're paying some of his wages.

And even more importantly, it frees up a space in the 25 man squad.

I imagine we probably have an option to extend his contract

Presumably we have an option in his contract to extend it for another year and thus if he went to Watford it would be for a nominal fee. Potentially again based on appearances/promotion to the Prem.

Great loan for him. Never understood the Hamza hate - pure commitment every game I've seen him play. He's a walking card machine but I love that.

Not sure where that would leave us now in terms of home grown players in the 25?

Good news for everyone involved.

Hope he smashes it and gets a permanent move.

Keep that fax machine working hard Rudkin (he definitely still uses fax)
